Hey Soup, I've gotta post early because I don't know if I'll have time at work.

Reaching back to 1983 for this one:

Come On, Get Keith

(Come on, get Keith)

Poor old Frank Cashen
Seaver came on back, but they started slow
And the only rising bat is Darryl
Bamberger cried
Sayonara! Who could blame him?
Kong's grown (Kong's grown)
So frail (so frail)
What can we get for Neil Allen?
(How About Keith?)
Nineteen-eighty, Nineteen-eighty-three
We can win just like the others

Come on, get Keith
I'm aware (what he means)
At this moment - legitimacy
Him on the Mets
Would lead to success
He's under thirty
Oh, come on, get Keith

(Come on, get Keith)

These drunk fans round here
Wear beaten down eyes sunk
In beer soaked faces
So resigned to what their place is
We're in last (are we ever)
Not so fast (whatever)
What if we were bold and clever?
(Remember)
Nineteen-eighty, Nineteen-eighty-three
When we win it all in three years

Come on, get Keith!
Facial hair (is so neat)
Aah, come on let's
Throw in Owensby
He'd fix this mess
Oh, Frank tell them yes
Aah, come on let's...
Aah, Come on, get Keith, please...

Now we've got Keith in Eighty-three
Now we've got Keith in Eighty-three
Now we have grown
Now we have shown
Oh, We got Keith

Say, now we've got Keith
These things they are real and I know
How to feel
Now I must say more than ever
Things round here have changed
I say, Nineteen-eighty, Nineteen-eighty-three!

Now We've Got Keith
I'm aware (what he means)
At this moment - legitimacy
Him on the Mets will lead to success
He's under thirty
Oh, Now we've got Keith

Oh, Now we've got Keith
Facial hair (is so neat)
At this moment, he means everything
Him on the Mets will lead to success
I feel dirty
Now We've Got Keith

Now We've Got Keith...

This Team Will Reach The Stars

Tommy was legend
When he was traded that summer day
It was done, we knew it was
Six years later he came back to Shea
Pitched himself the Open’r
Looked great in the home whites
Now he's a New York Met once again
And everything's alright
Don’t you know?

Daryl was a rookie
When we saw him then, young and strong
The Black Ted, they said he was
And he would be, before too long
Hit those long, high homeruns
Used to feel like every night
Became a perennial All-Star
For the NL out in right
Don't you know?

Yeah......yeah.....

Don’t you know this was just the starting point
Don't you know
O-ros-co
Soon this team would no longer disappoint
The City will one day look back and see
It began in eighty three.

Mex had a coke issue
And Whitey wanted no part
Allen and Ownbey to Saint Loo
Keith got a fresh new start
Not happy comin’ to the Mets
But put to rest all his fears
Once Keith looked around him he said,
"We’ll win the Series in three years"
Don't you know?
Don't you know?

Don't you know that this team will reach the stars
O-quend-o
Don't you know that we’ll be lighting cigars
And whoever wins that Series MVP will get a fancy car

Don’t you know Frank will fill this team with stars
Foster will go
And everybody in New York will see
That the Mets resurgence began in nineteen eighty three.

Howard told Cashen, "Frank, I'm your man
This team we got here, I’ll lead to the promised land"
Cash gave him just that year, with a wink, said ‘hey son’
If you think it’s a good team now, next year comes Gooden

Don't you know that this team was not so far
Not far away
Don't you know that they would be great someday
Dont you dont you dont you dont you dont you know
Don't you know that we’ll all look back and see

Don't you, don't you know it began in eighty three……

For whom should I vote?

Nice too see such an upbeat, optimistic take by both parodists.

Yeah, that's a good question.

I voted for Transmonk based mostly on his entry provoking a more visceral reaction. Plus, you know, I kinda liked that he choose a song whose too-la-ray-ays would scare off most parody writers and kill off most who tried.
