Metsies getting pasted today.

All-important major league leading ERA in ST is taking a chink.

Fugly game - although by the end, we were just laughing at it (if you don't laugh, you'll cry). Two questions -

[list:9647efc79b]Who was the scrubbini wearing #95 who came in for Pelfrey in the 9th?; and

Did Delgado get hurt running the bases in the second inning?[/list:u:9647efc79b]

two: >>>Who was the scrubbini wearing #95 who came in for Pelfrey in the 9th?;
and Did Delgado get hurt running the bases in the second inning?<<<

a) see title of thread
b) they said that Delgado left to help his kid celebrate his first or second
birthday - I forget exactly - but he ain't hurt.

I thought Pelfrey's first inning wasn't as bad as it looks at face value -- a seeing-eye grounder, a hard hit ball that an experienced outfielder probably catches, a bloop, another seeing-eye grounder, then the hardest hit ball of the inning was actually caught. The last inning was not in any way redeemable, however. He was batting practice in his fifth inning of work, and really showed no ability to handle adversity. He's also not making enough bats miss.

I didn't catch El Duque's portion of the game, but that doesn't sound encouraging either.

What's an O-Hern? Is he of legal age? He didn't look like he could shave yet.

And I don't care what the party line is - Delgado was not running like someone who wasn't hurting.

O-Hern is Orlando Hernandez.

The guy you're looking for is the one referred to as Kroll in the thread title. Perhaps he's conflating with 1964 Met Gary Kroll, but the real guy is Brandon Nall, who split 2007 between St. Lucie and Bingo.

I stumbled upon the game while Pelfrey was pitching. Hitters do not seem particularly fooled by his stuff, in my amateur opinion.

Yeah I agree about Big Pelf -- I haven't as yet seen him throw that 97 mph fastball as advertised.

I tuned in just as El Duque was about to deliver a pitch, it was a close up shot and with his goatee beard I thought for a brief second he was Mota.

That's enough to give a Met fan nightmares.
