SNY question

Anyone else have DirectTV? Despite the "HD" graphic in the upper right hand portion of the screen, yesterday's broadcast was not high definition on my TV. I can't find a separate SNY HD channel on Direct TV and wondering if their HD broadcast is only for cable subscribers.

From SNY-TV FAQ.

]

Q: Why don't all of your cable and satellite providers offer SNY in HD?

A: It is up to each cable and satellite provider to allocate channel space for viewers to see SNY in HD. Currently, not all service providers have allocated this space, but we are encouraging them to do so because SNY has extensive HD programming including all Mets home games and select away games. In addition, SportsNite, a comprehensive re-cap of all New York sports is shot in HD from SNY's state-of-the-art street level studio in the heart of Manhattan every night at 6pm, 10pm and 1am. If your cable operator does not currently offer SNY in HD, we encourage you to call your service provider and request it.

Much appreciated. I'll tune in to 683 tonight.

Yeah, I have friggin' Comcast. They show very few of the Mets games in HD (even though they devote an entire channel to YES in HD - bastages!).

Wow - Comcast added a channel for SNY HD!

There's still an awful lot to hate about Comcast. But this is cool.

Jon Heyman has joined the SNY crew reporting before the game from Florida. Heyman was asked to rank the Mets pitching staff and he rated it in the top three in the NL along with the D-Backs and Padres, then Pedro got injured.

spent innings 6 through 9 on phone with direct tv. took them that long to realize they were blocking the HD broadcast from me. they got it up and running just in time to see Andino's AB ....

Why couldn't Heyman get DL'd?

I'm too stoopid to really know what this guy is talking about but it does seem to lend weight to Fairy's statement about lotsa things to hate about Comcast

The broadcast/cable/entertainment distrubution industry reminds me thematically of what Vic said about Apolocolypto. Peolple are voracious for more and more entertainment to be pumped into their family rooms. To control that ontent is to rule imperial. You can set prices, extort tributes, control culture, hire armies of lawyers and make politicians fear you.

But it was ta technology change that created the power void that you filled, and another technology change could make you obsolete.

Like a king over all who hears an oracle tell him of a mysterious peasant child destined to inherit the throne, these guys must live in fear every day of their lives, and are destined to undo themsielves, their kingdoms fallign to pieces as they grow increasingly miserly and paranoid searching for that child.

I'm content though to view my Mets in whatever defintion Pete Falcone pitched in.

Comcast suxx. Aside from frequent outages and horrible customer service, they have been systematically moving stations off of the regular feeds and making them available only through cable boxes. We've lost New York Channels 2, 4 and 11, and a lot of the cable channels the kids like (we have two digital boxes, but we don't have boxes in every room). Oh, and we're the only system I know of that doesn't have ESPN Classic, which I have been begging them to add for years (the bastages!).

Verizon FiOS is slowly coming to our area. Once it comes to my block, I'm dropping Comcast faster than you can blink.

We saw him in the concourse yesterday before the game. He looked good and was very engaging - it made me soften my stance on him (even though I still hate the fact that he blew his Mets career up his nose).

He graciously posed for a picture with MiniKnight, but I only had my camera phone and I didn't properly save the shot - argh!
