I'm glued to the TV awaiting Ken Rosenthal's Pedro update.
KC Apr 05 2008 01:37 PM |
I'm watching the Rays paste the Skanks again.

Maine picking up where he left off.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 02:17 PM |
Maine is getting squeezed big time.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 02:26 PM |
Prado completely screw up an easy turn on the double-play ball, the mets tie it at 1.
Elster88 Apr 05 2008 03:01 PM |
I forgot how much I hate the chop.
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:06 PM |
I think FOX's radar gun in on steroids
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 03:13 PM |
I forgot how much I hate Tim McCarver.
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 03:14 PM |
I agree. I'll add Joe Buck, Tim McCarver and player interviews during the game to that list. And yes, the FOX radar gun does appear to be juiced.
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 03:28 PM |
The rain and Maine ruining my weekend thus far.

They kept clocking Zumaya at something like a consistant 103 during the 2006 playoffs.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:34 PM |
I know its only the 5th inning but pulling Maine for the punch-hitter here is the right move. 2nd and 3rd 1 out for Brady Clark!
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:35 PM |
Clark HBP it jose jose jose with the bases loaded!!
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:36 PM |
THAT BALL WAS NOT CAUGHT, IT WAS FUCKING TRAPPED!!!!
Zvon Apr 05 2008 03:36 PM |
awwwwwwww,we wuz robbed!!!
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:36 PM |
MUTHA-FUCKA THAT WAS TRAPPED!!!!
bmfc1 Apr 05 2008 03:37 PM |
Are you fi'in kidding me?
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 03:37 PM |
Biggest blown call I've ever seen.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:38 PM |
oh my god they are reversing the call???
bmfc1 Apr 05 2008 03:38 PM |
How can I get mad when umps at my kids games screw up when these clowns, making six figures a year, screw up night after night (Beltran the other night and now this)?
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 03:38 PM |
Overturned...good for blue. We still potentially lose a run that would have scored.
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:40 PM |
I'm not sure what kind of leeway the umps have to reverse judgement calls like that.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 03:42 PM |
really. They made a mess out of that. What a rip.
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:44 PM |
I'll take it, but I can also understand why the Braves would be pissed off too.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:44 PM |
Castillo bring one home on a groundout... lets go Wright!
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:46 PM |
damn. Wright grounds out to end it, I know the Mets got another run after the whole incident, but they really let the Braves off the hook there, gotta take advantage of these situations and tie the game up.
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 03:46 PM |
Well, that wacky inning makes it a game again.
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:46 PM |
Would have been nice if we could have made a bigger mess out of that inning after the reversal.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 03:51 PM |
1-2-3 go the Braves, i've missed Joe Smith pitching.
soupcan Apr 05 2008 03:52 PM |
How do McCarver and Buck pose the question that Pagan should be out because he passed Church, when the only reason he passed Church is because the umpires blew the call?
Zvon Apr 05 2008 03:53 PM |
I agree--that was my only thought during the whole rap.
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 03:56 PM |
Well, Church reacted to what the umps called and Pagan should have too. Pagan was merely following Alomar who didn't seem to notice the call either.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 04:01 PM |
Alomar saw the play, lol. Hey, if we at home watchin on TV could plainly see (live) that it was trapped how could the ump not? Ok, ill shut-up. (just venting) Water under the bridge at this point.
soupcan Apr 05 2008 04:02 PM |
That ball was so obviously not caught - you can't fault Pagan for seeing that and continuing.
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 04:08 PM |
The Goat pinch-hitting for the Braves!
Zvon Apr 05 2008 04:11 PM |
....the 'ol ex-team payback factor. ><
Frayed Knot Apr 05 2008 04:11 PM |
The ball could bounce 4 times before Kotsay gets to it but if the ump calls it a catch then it's a catch (at least until further notice) and all runners need to react accordingly. And it's not Pagan at fault so much as it's Alomar who was windmilling his arm to send Pagan home like an out call was never even a possibility -- but when a play is even semi-close it's something the coach oughta be sure of before he starts sending runners. And now I'll shut up -- except to repeat that situations like that are why reversing calls (either thru conference or replay) are rarely clean and easy.

Lefty specialist extraordinaire Scott Schoeneweis gives up a run.
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 04:17 PM |

Really, it was Smith's run. And Show gets Chipper to pop-up.

Swing the Effin' bat!!!!
bmfc1 Apr 05 2008 04:24 PM |
Bad AB... Buck & McCarver were right--he should have been swinging.

KC Apr 05 2008 04:25 PM |
Why the fuck is Reyes bunting with two guys on in the 7th and one out?
bmfc1 Apr 05 2008 04:25 PM |
How about a 2-out hit??? Come on David!

Zvon Apr 05 2008 04:48 PM |
he had the Braves 'pullin tendons' a few batters ago.
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 04:48 PM |
Sosa gives up the grand slam :(
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 04:49 PM |

We are 6 more doubles away after two 2 baggers by the Carloses.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 04:58 PM |
...only pretty funny?
Zvon Apr 05 2008 05:05 PM |
Ugh, I thought Pagan ripped that for a gapper.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 05:15 PM |
We were supposed to hold em here in the 8th.
metirish Apr 05 2008 05:16 PM |
It's all over now boys bar the shouting.
KC Apr 05 2008 05:18 PM |
We'll get 'em tomorrow. I ain't takin' Zach down until we get a W, maybe 2.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 05:23 PM |
Shame on you Jose, chasin pitches like that.
Zvon Apr 05 2008 05:24 PM |
TransMonk Apr 05 2008 05:25 PM |
Well, we had sole possession of first place for a couple hours today.
Willets Point Apr 05 2008 05:28 PM |
Sad, I thought they had a comeback in 'em today. Oh well, there's still a lot of baseball, we'll get 'em tomorrow.
Fman99 Apr 05 2008 05:30 PM |
Santana gets his first chance to be the stopper.
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 05:40 PM |
General observation: I'm really starting to worry about Delgado -- every pitch in the mid-80's and above, he's missing by a mile.
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 06:34 PM |
Another point - why does Willie bring-in Sosa in a close game, instead of going with Heilman or Feliciano. Do these players have a contractual clause that allows them to pitch only when the Mets have the lead?
Nymr83 Apr 05 2008 06:38 PM |
you can't call for Heilman every time the game is +/- 3 runs, he'll pitch 70-80 games this year, if he'd pitched today and every game like today he'd have to throw 120 games. later in the season you may choose to use him on a day like today if he hasn't worked much lately, but it was the right move not to use him today.
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 07:41 PM |
Okay, but it doesn't explain why he left Sosa in for as long as he did.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Apr 05 2008 08:38 PM |
I was watching halfway across a crowded restaurant and even I knew that was a clean single. Didn't see how they worked it out till now. But what crap 'piring we've seen this season already. That obviously affected the game in ways we'll never know but I have to think the interruption itself was a great advantage for the Braves.
AG/DC Apr 05 2008 09:14 PM |
When the starter is chased after four, I've got nothing to say about bullpen choices. Everybdoy grab a bucket and start bailing.
Triple Dee Apr 05 2008 09:30 PM |
After his first bunt failed, the 3rd base coach walked towards the batter's box and said something. I wonder what he said. I'm guessing it wasn't "Yeah, bunting here is a good idea".
