Well, with Figueroa we're already down to the seventh starter on the depth chart. I'd guess that Sosa is number eight.

Two seasons ago we used 10 different starters before the end of May.

IMO, it's pretty scary that Figueroa is considered (by Mets hierarchy) a better option than Sosa or even Heilman...I hope that their logic there is that Sosa/Heilman are vital cogs to the bullpen, moreso than Figueroa has better starting pitcher attributes.... Supposedly, Vargas has good "stuff", although his numbers don't really suggest it...

So long as we keep using off days to minimize the starts of the #5 pitcher, I'm comfortable with the occasional Vargas-Figueroa-Armas start until Hernandez or Martinez comes back.
