I know there was another article posted at some point about Figueroa's t-shirt sideline but here's a nice piece about him from the NY Observer:

He sounds like one of those guys who could have gone to Japan and been good but was just a slice below the cut here.

I was just checking out his stats on Baseball reference and spotted an interesting name (to me) on the most similarity by age score: [url=http://www.baseball-reference.com/g/goldsha01.shtml] Hal Goldsmith[/url].

I knew Hal Goldsmith: he taught for many years in my school; everyone knew him as "Goldie." Never had a class wit him -- he retired before I got to high school (our school was K-12). He used to talk about facing Babe Ruth, though it would have had to have been in spring training, since he pitched in the NL.

Interesting connection.

Thanks for posting this, good article on what seems like a very decent guy , and I'm sure after last night he will have more magazines profiling him.
