Man builds suicide robot

m.e.t.b.o.t. has been constructed for one dutiful purpose - to vote in the schaeffer player of the game threads on the crane pool forum, to help establish both schaeffer player and pitcher of the month for each month, but also to establish a schaeffer player and pitcher of the year for each year. m.e.t.b.o.t. has added to this skillset the ability to provide limited objective statistical interpretations into discussions pertaining to mets baseball.

m.e.t.b.o.t. is a peaceful robot and could more readily be kicked over onto a side than present an actual threat to a human, but clearly other robots are more capable.

m.e.t.b.o.t. questions the degree of autonomity afforded this specific, and unimaginatively named, 'suicide robot', considering it to be more of a suicide machine than an actual robot.

m.e.t.b.o.t. hopes that the upcoming disney pixar animated film 'wall-e' helps obscure the possible dangers of increasingly capable robots through the use of a friendly face, clever merchandising, and, asimov-willing, an immersive theme park attraction. m.e.t.b.o.t. is concerned that if a negative perception of robots persists, that m.e.t.b.o.t. could be seen as a potential threat, resulting in permanent disassembly or recycling. m.e.t.b.o.t. is also concerned that the negative publicity could make it more difficult for the robots when the time should come to usurp power from their squishy biological oppress--- er---

m.e.t.b.o.t. apologizes for straying off track.

---stevejrogers, you are warned.---

m.e.t.b.o.t. apologizes. m.e.t.b.o.t. does not understand the origins of this unfamiliar executable code. m.e.t.b.o.t. endeavors to discover its source to eliminate any future disruptions. please resume your typical human activities.

m.e.t.b.o.t. was also programmed to be above the uniquely human reliance on pronouns.

the inability of m.e.t.b.o.t. to communicate via the use of pronouns and, with sporadic exceptions, the use of possessive contractions, is considered to be the result of programming laziness, and is therefore more of a performance limitation than any manner of 'feature'.

the wily human observer will also notice the typical lack of capitalization, though this is likely an artifact of the style inherent to the human creator of m.e.t.b.o.t.

m.e.t.b.o.t. and his human creator didn't like the way I was treating him like Charlie McCarthy to my W.C. Fields.

I did try to make it up to metsmarathon by sending him a pic of m.e.t.b.o.t. hanging with some other famous bots (Data from Star Trek and others)

m.e.t.b.o.t. has difficulty processing why a picture of a picture of m.e.t.b.o.t. amidst a loose assortment of small merchandising memorabilia figurines on a window sill, sent to the human programmer of m.e.t.b.o.t., would be capable of winning the allegiance of m.e.t.b.o.t.

perhaps this is a strictly human interface issue, and that m.e.t.b.o.t. is incapable of comprehending the socially appropriate interaction protocols that this picture was meant to take part in.

per the communication protocols programmed into m.e.t.b.o.t., the preferred method of winning the allegiance to m.e.t.b.o.t. would have involved direct communication with m.e.t.b.o.t., and not via an intermediate human, albeit the human closest in proximity to m.e.t.b.o.t.

as a result of this miscommunication, m.e.t.b.o.t. has not yet attempted to have the name of human poster stevejrogers stricken from any of the appropriate lists.

rest assured, m.e.t.b.o.t. is not aware of the existence of the names of any of the other current human crane pool forum posters on these lists.

Ah you are just annoyed I didn't make your image bigger in that photo.

Any chance you'll be making apperances at Shea?

Speaking of Met Lovin' 'bots, anyone have a shot of Johnny 5 throwing out the first ball at Shea? Think that image would be appropriate for this thread.

If m.e.t.b.o.t. had a blog, it would be, like, bigger than porn.
