They seemed to matchup aagainst each other a lot last year, prompting a few Chico and the Maine references.

Benjamin Grimm Apr 16 2008 09:28 AM |
I agree with KC's suggestion from yesterday that the date ought to be included in the IGT thread title.

Yet another Chico and the Maine matchup fo sho. It reminds of a few years back when Glavine was with the Braves the first go-round. Bastard would pitch every Sunday game I went to.

Chico is 2-2 vs. the Mets, with a 6.20 ERA. All of his appearences vs. the Mets came in 2007, and all were as a starting pitcher. He didn't oppose John Maine in any of the four starts:

I know I didn't come up with Chico and the Maine. I bet they were probables for 4/15 last season and got rained out.
|
Benjamin Grimm Apr 16 2008 01:34 PM |
I do seem to remember that.
|
metirish Apr 16 2008 01:58 PM |
I'm expecting a big game from Maine tonight , seven solid at least.

Church of the Poison Mind ties this one up.

Big Reyes moment with two on and two out and...
|
AG/DC Apr 16 2008 05:52 PM |
...hits it hard but flies to center.
|
Willets Point Apr 16 2008 05:53 PM |
It's nice he worked the count at least. Maybe the O can get to Chico in the next inning as a result.

I predict that Keith will receive much hate mail from the residents of the state of Maine.
|
AG/DC Apr 16 2008 06:08 PM |
I'm under a Keith blackout. What did he say this time.
|
Willets Point Apr 16 2008 06:10 PM |
Some fans are posting images of the state of Maine instead of K's for each of John Maine's strikeouts. They got to talking about Maine, and Keith said dismissively that after the Revolution the British gave Maine to the US because they didn't want it.

Wily Mo' pain for ya!

What happened to spring training John Maine?
|
Willets Point Apr 16 2008 06:26 PM |
Nice hustle on the IF single by Castillo.
|
TransMonk Apr 16 2008 06:29 PM |
I really, really like Castillo hitting eighth.
|
Willets Point Apr 16 2008 06:34 PM |
Agree on Castillo hitting 8th.

I wanted Maine to get the third out SO bad.
|
TransMonk Apr 16 2008 07:12 PM |
So did he. Another decent outing for him.
|
KC Apr 16 2008 07:12 PM |

Smiff, Smiff, made you whiff!

You're probably right. I studied French, Latin and Spanish and was never good at any of them but very good at mixing them up. Smith bails out Maine. Hooray!
|
Triple Dee Apr 16 2008 07:16 PM |
I hope they don't send Smith back down when Wise comes off the DL.

Who else would go?

Willets Point Apr 16 2008 07:26 PM |
|
Same here.
|
Triple Dee Apr 16 2008 07:27 PM |
I like Smith more than Wise, as he plunks Lastings.
|
TransMonk Apr 16 2008 07:30 PM |
Wouldn't Wise have to accept being demoted, where Smith wouldn't?
|
Triple Dee Apr 16 2008 07:32 PM |
I wasn't actually predicting it would happen.
|
TransMonk Apr 16 2008 07:34 PM |
Realistically, I think Joe goes down no matter how well he pitches when Wise is ready.
|
Triple Dee Apr 16 2008 07:42 PM |
I agree -- it's a good situation to be in I guess -- that is, provided Wise is effective when he returns.
|
mario25 Apr 16 2008 07:43 PM |
Enter Sandman to seal the victory...

Great catch by CB15 !
