....he doesn't play for the Padres or Rockies, otherwise his arm would now be vaporized.

Not surprising that this game was played in San Diego and not Denver.

Both catchers (Bard and Torrealba) played all 22 innings!

Kip Wells throwing four shutout innings of relief for the win. Wilfredo Ledezma went five for the losers before giving way to Ruscharound. Those are the sorts of relief outings that get you back in the rotation.

It seems that marathon games often end on misplays. (I remember an 18-inning game I attended at Shea in 1985 against the Pirates. That was the famous "Rusty in the outfield" game. It ended with, I think, Clint Hurdle hitting a ball between an infielder's legs.)

well it stands to reason, people's concentration'll get screwed as they get tired which is reasonable to do after 6 hours of baseball.

And, seeing as a catcher throwing error contributed to the winning run, maybe it's not such a good idea to let your catcher go 22 innnigs.

Without looking it up, I'll guess Dodgers-Expos at the Big O that went 23 innings. I think Rick Dempsey either drove in or scored the winning run.
