i'm headed to shea thursday night, anyone know what the parking situation is this year?
public transportation just isn't going to cut it from staten island to flushing.

I really don't think you want to get in that parking lot.

I'd find a place along the 7 line that you could park.

This wouldn't work for you (I don't think) but when I go I park in Manhattan at 1st Avenue and 38th Street ($10 for the whole day) and take the subway from Grand Central.

I went on Sunday, from Orange County with 2 kids, so public transportation was not an option.

We got there an hour before first pitch, and there were plenty of spots behind the left field area of CitiField. I was surprised actually at how many. It wasn't that hard to get out of after the game either. I think for a weeknight game, as long as you get there a little early, parking should not be a problem.

But, for $15, if you have an alternative like BG suggests ( a spot somewhere on the #7 line), you could do that too.

Try getting there early so you can get a space underneath the Whitestone Expressway under Northern Blvd.

Otherwise best bet is somewhere in downtown Flushing near Willets Point.

Do they still allow that? (I had heard that they didn't.)

I used to do that all the time when I was a Sunday season ticket holder and lived on Long Island.

I'd make a left turn out of my parking spot, a right on Main Street and that would lead me right to the LIE.

Last year they did, this year my Dad's company got the full year plus parking so I don't know if they started to crack down on that this year. Or at least the side furtherest away from Shea.

There are some municipal parking lots in Flushing. I don't drive much, but I have parked in one of those and taken the 7 back one stop.

i don't know which highway/overpass is which but the last few years the mets (presumably with the blessing of the city) have been charging for parking under the highways closest to shea.

That's nothing new. Certain lots have existed under the Northern Boulevard ramps for years.

The "free" parking is under the Whitestone Expressway/Northern Boulevard between 114th and 126th streets, on the ramps closest to Flushing Bay.
