Leadoff homer to Nate McLouth? Must...boo...Santana...

KC
Apr 29 2008 05:30 PM

It's probably my imagination, but Santana is a bit homer happy early on?

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 05:42 PM

Delgado gets a great reception. Good for him.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 06:06 PM

Holy shit. Santana gives up his second jack.

Church goes;

Triples R awesome

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 06:42 PM

Poor Pirates. Bad D just sucks.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 06:48 PM

I usually could care less about the opposing pitcher but I kinda feel bad there for Snell.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 06:51 PM

Swing the fucking bat .

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 07:05 PM

One reason to not feel bad for one team's misfortune is that you can guarantee the breaks will even out at some point. I mean, that was Ball 4 on Church.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 07:11 PM

Pedro rocks.

Nymr83
Apr 29 2008 07:12 PM

Feliciano really bailed Santana out there. Santana hasn't looked good in his home starts so far.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 07:14 PM

Santana does not normally pitch well in April, in general.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 07:16 PM

Career -- 4.04 ERA in March/April. He also gives up the most HRs in those months.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 07:17 PM

Santana hasn't been bad either. If this is as bad as it gets, so be it.

The gold chest protector is an interesting switcheroo for the Bucs, but you need the contrast of the dark color to set the target.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 07:24 PM

We need that triple play

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 07:28 PM

Har to tell whether they're booing Heilman on his way out or The Show on his way in.

Either way, pretty lousy way to root root root for the home team.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 07:29 PM

Fans boo then cheer Heilman as he exits , both the booing and cheering are loud enough that some of the same pricks are doing both.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 07:30 PM

I don't think the Show's given much reason to boo him lately.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 07:33 PM

What a play form Showenweiss , WOW.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Apr 29 2008 07:33 PM

Now there's a call you don't often get.

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 07:33 PM

Wow! Umps blow that call to the Mets' benefit.

(I just got here. HOW does Willie bring in Heilman, with a lead and the way he's pitched recently? Fire his dumb ass please.)

Deal with it. Fire the ump.

metirish

Guy puts his body on the line right there to make that play , fans should keep that in mind..

I never boo my own team. I boo the OTHER team.

But that's how I roll.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 07:35 PM

Well after seeing the replay I admit to a slight exaggeration.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 07:37 PM

Insurance run, please.

KC
Apr 29 2008 07:38 PM

Nice call by Wendelstedt, the shot from the first bag side shows the hand
went over the plate but didn't hit it. He was right on top of it.

It was a stupid slide.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 07:40 PM

Yeah, don't fire Wendelstedt. Fire the fans.

Or nobody. That's a good idea also.

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 07:41 PM

Hey! The good Reyes is back tonight. I missed him.

KC
Apr 29 2008 07:41 PM

TD: >>>It was a stupid slide<<<

Whatever -- just commenting on the good call.

Triple Dee
Apr 29 2008 07:44 PM

Earlier in the Bronx -- The Gambler got out of 1 out, bases loaded jam against the MFY. Cunt.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 07:51 PM

Gary making a deal out of reyes not sliding back into second base after Bay made the catch on Beltran and then threw to second , looking at the replay it seems to me that Reyes knew where he was and really it wasn't close...

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 07:55 PM

Ruh-roh. 2nd and 3rd, no outs for ol' Filthy Sanchez. Let's see what he can do.

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 07:56 PM

NICE! Gets Bay with the K.

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 08:03 PM

Wow. Gutsy work by Sanchez to get out of that inning only giving up one run.

Phew.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 08:03 PM

Sanchez gets into and out of trouble , he battled right there.

themetfairy
Apr 29 2008 08:04 PM

Whew!

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 08:11 PM

C'mon Wags.

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 08:18 PM

We've been lucky on several plays (the GiDP that wasn't, plus the call at home) to be leading this game.
Don't blow it now.

themetfairy
Apr 29 2008 08:21 PM

Crap - tie game :(

Fman99
Apr 29 2008 08:21 PM

Damn. Beltran laid out but it was not to be.

Ah well we'll get em in the bottom half.

Yeah or walked in the run in extra frames. Ugh, I hate that guy.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:24 PM

Get the Yankees out of this thread. And, dear, are we rooting for them now?

We'll get this back.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:26 PM

Five times on base for Reyes.

metirish
Apr 29 2008 08:26 PM

I find that Coors Lite freeze frame that SNY overuse annoying.

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 08:28 PM

"if this had been a playff game he would have coughed up a grand slam there"

That's what all the Yanqui fans thought until ol' Kenny shut them down in a playoff game two years back.

Yep. The Mrs. was just saying the same thing in fact.

Time for a snack.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:31 PM

Bunting not for winners that inning.

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 08:34 PM

So now we're down to Wagner, Smith and Sosa in the pen.
For that reason - and because you may be forced to PH in the bottom half - it's a good move using Wags for a 2nd inning IMO.

I wonder if Figgy would be available for pen work if this goes long?

You would think so, since they're skipping his spot in the rotation this week.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:42 PM

Mets bench officially includes Anderson, Molina, and Schneider. The Schneid isn't actually in uniform, though, is he?

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 08:51 PM

AG/DC wrote:

Nope.
And now it's just Molina who won't be needed for at least two more innings.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:53 PM

Shouldn't that have been Smiff's inning, seeing as how we might want to stretch Sosa?

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:57 PM

Endy's having his game of the Year.

You want to bunt, stick with Sosa.

I have pretzels and a TYSKIE beer from Poland. The beer that makes Van Benschoten balk.

AG/DC
Apr 29 2008 08:59 PM

Cool to hear the Shea fans call that balk before Gary Cohen did.

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 08:59 PM

Tough to argue the balk call when you get two umps doing the synchronized call thing there.

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 09:04 PM

'bout time for young David to break out.

Who can blame him?

I love that boy :)

BTW, HoJo has been coaching Mr. Wright ever since they were both in Single A Port St. Lucie in 2003. They go back a while.

But at least HoJo, unlike Roger, didn't hook up with his young squeeze until after David was already 18.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Well that was fortunate.

Tell ya what, Wagner has really come to play this year.

G-Fafif
Apr 29 2008 09:16 PM

Eddie C. had Endy C. He likes playing time.

metsguyinmichigan
Apr 29 2008 09:17 PM

Just saw the replay and couldn't see well. Was Wright's hit a homer, or did bounce first?

Frayed Knot
Apr 29 2008 09:25 PM

It bounced in the corner somewhere so it's just a single - although I never did see exactly where it landed.
