Well, it Schneider is DL'ed, then he's the casualty. If not, then who? Maybe for a day or so it could be Brady Clark; he's due to be replaced by Alou soon anyway.

Don't they have a medical staff around these guys constantly? How does a thumb cut get so bad that it's infected without trainers monitoring it every day?

Reportedly there was no cut and the source/timing of the infection remains a mystery.

Five days in the hospital with a thumb infection? Drug resistant staph maybe? Have open heart surgery and they send you home in 3-4 days.
