Granted, it's only subbing. But tomorrow I get to be the librarian at the elementary school that my kids attended. I am SO psyched about this :)

Substitute a/k/a babysitter. But on Subfinder, the position is listed as Librarian. And thanks :)

Something made me laugh today, and only you guys will understand why. Things went smoothly today. I was subbing for the librarian, but the elementary school also has an assistant librarian and a library secretary, so I had a lot of help and guidance on my first day in the library. Among other duties, I had to read a fairy tale to second graders called, "The Old Woman Who Lived In A Vinegar Bottle." At the beginning, a fairy comes upon an old woman who lived in a vinegar bottle. The old woman lamented that she would just be happy if she could live in a cottage. The fairy made it happen. The old woman never thanked her. A year later, the fairy returns, only to hear the old woman lament that she would just be happy if she could live in a grand house. The fairy makes it happen. The old woman never thanks her. Etc. etc. Eventually, after the old woman was a queen, but still not satisfied with her life, the fairy returns the crone to her vinegar bottle. After reading this tale, I asked the kids what they thought the moral was. The first one answered, "Never mess with a fairy!" So that's my new motto around here ;)
