First time Delgado has batted 7th since 1995 according to the tv booth.

i'd rather see delgado 6th, schnedier 7th, and castillo 8th with church 2nd. i'd also rather see Easley 6th/7th with castillo not playing the way our hitting has been.

Hmmm. Does Santana get the daytime start or does he pitch the nightcap?

Really shitty work by the Mets staff tonight, first not announcing the delay until 7:00, when I'm sure it was clear at least 15 if not 30 minutes prior to that that there would be a delay, then a 15 minute delay in announcing the postponement in-stadium (well after WFAN and the Rain hotline had the info).

Double-admission doubleheaders are an affront to America.

So I signed up with Meetup.com recently and found a group of Mets fans in Boston and went for my first meet up tonight and the game was rained out. Pity.

to me it depends on when you reschedule for, if you reschedule for during the same series i'd rather a day/night so you can honor the tickets from the day before. if you're scheduling it somewhere down the road i'd do one admission.
sellouts are also a consideration, if you reschedule a friday game against the yankees i'd HATE to see a one admission DH the next day because you've robbed 50k fans of seeing a mets/yanks game which is what they paid for (as opposed to tonight where i'm sure 95% of the fans dont care that they were playing the reds, they would have been as happy with any opponent)

did they do anything for the fans who showed up tonight? i was at agame a year or two ago where they allowed you to mail in the tickets for another free game

Yes. You can either go tomorrow night or refund your tickets.

The "mail in your tickets and get a free game" thing is usually done when a game is in fact played, but after most people who had tickets gave up or didn't come due to rain/a long rain delay (and therefore wouldn't be entitled to a refund.

Gotta disagree with you here, big time. If they schedule it as a single admission doubleheader, those with tickets on Saturday are getting two games for the price of one (great for them!) but everybody who had tickets on Friday is then forced to

A. Take the refund or
B. Exchange their seats for a ticket for Saturday's game -- to which the best 50,000 seats were already sold, of course

The Mets actually have one of the most fan-friendly rainout policies around, and the separate admission doubleheader is actually the best benefit for the consumers. You can either go to the rescheduled game, in the exact quality seat you paid for initially, or you can get a refund. Seems pretty fair to me.

---

Now, would I like there to be scheduled single-admission doubleheaders? Sure. Those days are sadly long gone, however.

Nothing is gone. Only gone away, if you get my drift.

As for Friday's patrons, they can choose from many loverly games, of course. My issue is with the death of single-admission doubleheaders in general, though. Secondarily is the flaw of having 56% of your home series being the only trip to town for the team, necessitating these things.

Not really. Given the rate of ticket sales this year the Mets have sold (approximately) 35,000+ tickets for every remaining game. There's actually very little to choose from, especially at the higher pricepoints.

The first time they ran into this problem (with the Pirates) the new game was scheduled for a mutual off day in August, and doing that caused the Mets to have a run in August of 23 straight days with a game. Survey says the desire to not do that again forced their hand a little bit.

Understood.

I just like doubleheaders. I like two games and some goofy shit in between: putting Bud Harrelson in the Mets Hall-of-Fame, banner parades, Henry Winkler pitching to Peggy Hodges --- that sort of crap.

In Cincy, the Mets would typically be the guest on farm day, where 'tween game entertainment included the players in a cow-milking contest. I'd gladly pay extra.

the first "problem" is more understandable, i hate the schedule too but theres no real answer other than the elimination of interleague play (which i'm in favor of) or playing less games against your own division (which i don't want happening.)

Namor, can you set up the Sat night-cap lineup for us?

nymr: --i'd rather see delgado 6th--

Batted 7th, 4AB, 2R, 3H, 1RBI, 0K's

nymr: --schnedier 7th--

Batted 8th, 4AB, 2R, 2H, 1RBI, 0K's

nymr: --and castillo 8th with church 2nd---

Church and Castillo were kinda a bad wash today.

nymr: --i'd also rather see Easley 6th/7th

Easley pinch hit and made an out, although he did hit a homer but foul. Yay.
