Not usually a good idea but would depend on the batter, inning, score, lineup, etc.

i dont like sacrifice bunting much at all, but if reyes thinks he can get on base by dropping one down instead of swinging the stick thats fine. the manager needs to monitor that and if he sees that his BA on bunt attempts is lower than swinging the bat he should put the redlight on it
