Tipping Pitches

About a week ago, there was a picture of Aaron Heilman in the Daily News. I just googled it but couldn't find it. In the picture, he was releasing the ball with his palm turned outward. That is usually the result of throwing a screwball or in some cases a sinking fastball. It is physically impossible for that to happen when throwing a curveball or slider. After those pitches, the follow through would have the palm facing the pitcher's glove side. So, I ask - is Heilman tipping his pitches? Later

If he's releasing the ball, no. At least not at that point. It's next to impossible to pick up on the pitcher's follow-through while the ball is screaming at you.

Yeah. You tip things if it's apparent before he goes into his windup. Once the pitcher starts to actually throw the ball, there's not enough time to process the information.
