You can also win one of these at a trivia contest over on Adam Rubin's Blog. To do that, you'll need to be one of the first 5 to know the correct answers to the following questions:

1. Who was Joe Smith's college pitching coach, who encouraged him to be a sidearm pitcher?

2. Which former Met, whom David Wright rooted for while growing up watching Norfolk Tides games, eventually signed him?

3. Who was Pedro Martinez's first pitching coach in the United States?

4. What college did Nelson Figueroa attend?

5. Who were the last two Mets to hit for the cycle?

Four of these were easily googled. The Pedro question not sure about, though I think I have the answer.

These are the "Top 6 Shea Games" they could put together?
]
'69 World Series Game 4

I'd rather see Game 5 on here if you want a complete 1969 game.

]'86 NLCS Game 3
'86 WS Game 6
'99 NLCS Game 5

Game 6 belongs, but in terms of meaningfull games, well for starters I'd take Game 5 of the 1986 NLCS over Game 3. And as great as the Grand Slam Single was, is it really an "essential" game for them to put in it's entirety rather than a bonus feature, or part of a highlights montage?

]9/21/01, First Game played in NYC after 9/11

Not going to quibble too much, but this deserves it's own DVD, ala the night 42 was retired in perpetuity in 1997, kind of "outside" the scope of the Mets.

]5/19/06, Mets v. Yankees, Wright's walk-off hit

THATS the best regular season game (aside from 9/21/2001) that they could come up with? How about Seaver's return in 83? Straw's debut? Gooden's masterpiece against Chicago in September of 1984? Carter's debut? The 1986 clincher? Game 162 in 1999?

No Ball off the Wall? No Henderson Walk-Off? No Cone striking out 19? No Seaver Imperfection? Piazza's debut at Shea? Pedro's debut at Shea?

This kind of proves my rant about how the Mets treat their fans and the history of the franchise. 2006 gets the most amount of love in terms of regular season moments? Pratt's game winner (aside from the GSS game on the main DVDs) is the only 1999 moment? And Matt Franco's game winner off of Rivera, along with Carter's walkoff in his debut are the ONLY regular season, non clinching highlights pre 2006?

How about a nice Shea Stadium documentary as well that covers all non-baseball stuff as well (Jets, Beatles, WWWF, etc).

Something so simple as a Farewell to Shea celebration, and the Mets marketing staff STILL manages to muck everything up.

Somehow I get the feeling that the last regular season celebration will only feature Kranepool, Seaver, Staub, Hernandez and the 2008 Mets rather than something the Orioles, Braves, Cardinals, Reds, Phillies did that encompassed all eras of their doomed ballpark's history, giving fans a real treat.

Instead the Mets will trot out local members of the championship squads (that aren't pissed off at management) and that will be it.

I don't disagree with a lot of what you said by I somehow feel compelled to point out that Franco's walk-off was also from '99.

I also missed the Pedro question--I thought it was Dave Wallace.

If you're looking for an answer that implies coaching greatness, go with Guy Conti.

Pedro calls Guy "my white Daddy."
