I Wanna Decorate Bar Mitzvah Halls (Split from Apropos)

Friday night I had a 15 minute conversation with a woman who was telling me that the $100,000.00 she and her husband spent on their son's Bar Mitzvah was really the least possible amount necessary.

She acknowledged that it was an 'absorb-itant' amount (really, she must have said 'absorbitant' at least 10 seperate times) but it was the decorations that put it over the top and, you know, they had to decorate the place.

That is a shonda (Yiddish word meaning shame, but stronger).
That money was spent for them, not their son.

A Bar Mitzvah is the ceremony, not the party.

It's good that she was able to stick to a budget, though.

Yeah, but you can't get Jay-Z to play a bar mitzvah these days for less than $50,000. It's just the cost of doing business.

Those guys need a copy of Keeping Up With The Steins.

On second thought, forget it. They ARE the Steins!

that really is disgusting. i'd be hesitant to spend that much on a WEDDING, but on a bar mitzvah?

Stupid irresponsible parents are everywhere and there ain't a whole lot you can do about it. I see it everyday in my town and I'm almost numb to it at this point.

Not only the Jews by the way.

I was more interested in her continued mispronounciation of exorbitant.

We had a local family in DC fly in 'N Sync for a Bar Mitzvah.

Now I know that it was so they could help decorate.
