I got nothing, just saw we needed one. Be back later!

The Mets pass on a perfect "Throw Back" night. Heck the Pirates are wearing their "Kind of throwbackish" road unis

Oh well...

Well shake it up baby now...

Kris Benson helped Kris Benson's cause with a 2 run single in the second.

Matsui pinch hits (and flies out) for Benson in the bottom of the 7th.

Kris' final line: 7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 K and went 1-2 with a 2 run single. We were better off with him hitting...

4-2 Mets after 7

I don't suppose we can give Kris separate Schaefer points for pitching and hitting.

1-2-3 for Roberto,. Against the heart of the order.

Wright with a lead off walk in the 8th after going down 0-2. Hope this leads to a big, "keep Looper out of the game" inning.

And as I type that, Floyd connects on a 2 run homer

Jose Castillo decides to belly flop into 1st, and Looper nails him with a great throw.

Game over. A nice, satisfying victory.

Padres lead the Marlins 3-1 in the 9th.
Cubs lead the Asstros 3-1 in the 7th.
Phils lead Washington 1-0 in the 1st, game delayed again by rain.

Other Out-of-Town news:

- Boston blows a late lead - then puts up a 7-spot in the 10th against Detroit. Tiggers counter w/a bottom 10 grand-slam (off Remlinger, not Schilling) but lose 10-7.

- Rivera serves up a game-tieing, 2-out 9th inning HR to Eduardo Perez (his 2nd of the game). D-Rays threatening in the 11th ... and Scott Proctor walks in the game-winner!!!!

- Braves take 4-3 lead in the 7th ... but the Dojers have 3 in in the 9th and are still batting w/ none out.

Florida has lost to Sandy Eggo

Astros down 4-1 now heading for the 10th

Perez's first came off Randy Johnson. Earlier this season, Perez hit 2 in one game against the Big Eunuch. Looks like someone owns someone.

i did, it was about a half hour of what i believe were some of the same songs played at the real concert.all earlier stuff. the band was kinda cool. the guy who was supposed to be paul even played lefty. they looked silly with their goofy wigs, but they sounded ok, as good as you could expect when played too loud through the shea PA.

also they had a jumbotron message from paul and another from ringo telling us to have fun and reminding us that they really enjoyed their gig 40 years ago.

as a total package, the game plus the silly concert, it was a fine evening.

MK has been doing some writing practice, and today's sentences were about this game. He was pleased enough with his work that he wanted me to post it for him -

The Mets played the Pirates, the final being 6-2. Benson not only pitched well, he also had 2 RBIs. Cliff had a HR.
Nice game, Mets!

Scarlett, you don't type his homework in real life do you?

I have to actually discuss that with his teacher. He's a bright kid (as many of you know), but he has grapho motor issues. I don't know how much writing is going to be required in 4th grade, but we may have some issues there.

Well, they were very nice sentences and all very true! :)

That reminds me of something!!!
