I'd bet if it were up to the same guy who greenlighted Gay Night they'd just ask the retards with the banner to take it down.

Good for the Phils; bad for the Phils.

He's right. They should start a gayng.

]Can you imagine if someone showed up at Jewish night with a sign that read, “Judaism Is Sin / Christ Can Set You Free”? The security guards would set a new land speed record getting to whomever held that sign, forcing them to take it down.

Wow, homosexuality is a religion? Reminds me of Stripes, "No, but we are willing to learn."

"Can you imagine if someone showed up at Jewish night with a sign that read, “Judaism Is Sin / Christ Can Set You Free”? The security guards would set a new land speed record getting to whomever held that sign, forcing them to take it down."

Not necessarilly.
One of the reasons I never became a Yankee fan was when I was a kid, my friends and I used to go to games at each of the NY ballparks and sit in the grandstand. Then, when the game was in the seventh inning or so, try to sneak down into the reserved/ box seats. These were usually weekday games, the seats were never full.

In Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds, no problem.
But in Yankee Stadium, it seems that the ushers and cops would let the blond, fair and red headed kids with freckles into the boxes. But if you had dark hair, dark skin, or wore a Yarmulke, they never let you move down.

Would they do that today?
Who knows?

But the author can't jump to conclusions like that.

Later

EDIT: How could I ever misspell Polo Grounds?

freedom of speech definetaly protects that sign in a public place (just as it protects other offensive material such as confederate or nazi flags, ku klux klan banners, etc) .
the phillies are of course welcome to include or exclude anything they want, its their park after all.
had i been the phillies i would have allowed them to display their sign for a few minutes to get their point across and then told them to take it down and stop causing a disturbance during a baseball game. i would NOT have prevented the other people at the park from going over and talking to them, though of course those who did had to realize that an offensive sign does NOT give you the right to hit someone, only to speak and voice your opinion.

but hey, we all knew that all the philly fans are idiots anyway, so who cares what they do to each other... these are the same morons that boo santa and throw batteries at people.

>>>But in Yankee Stadium, it seems that the ushers and cops would let the blond, fair and red headed kids with freckles into the boxes. But if you had dark hair, dark skin, or wore a Yarmulke, they never let you move down.<<<

Oh please, every time something Jewish comes up on this forum someone
types something stupid. There are no fair red headed Jewish kids with freckles?
Maybe you just looked like geeks and everyone knows Champions don't like geeks.
Use your head and stick the beanie in your pocket to fool the lug head and stop
posting stuff like Yankee Stadium ushers were anti-semetic and that's why I'm
not a Yankee fan.

I'm Jewish and I've had the misfortune to have had to deal with anti-semitism so I'm sensitive to that particular issue. Never have I ever had the sense that the Yankees (or any other team for that matter) discriminate against Jewish fans.

KC
Aug 21 2005 03:37 PM

I have no way of knowing how old you are, silver ... but 62 is probably posting
about the 1950's. And we all know full well that 1950's New York was a lot
different than today. 62's post is peppered with stereo types.

Blonde fair kids ... oy, the gestapo!

Red head ... friggin' mick bastards!

Dark hair, dark skin? Ya mean like an Italian? Yeah, those guys aren't welcome
in da bronx either.

Fifty years later, I still would rather hear a story about how he and his friends
beat the lug heads instead of the whoa was us we couldn't sneak down to the
good seats because we were Jews and that's why I don't like the Yankees.

Please.

I'll prolly take some heat for the stance, but it's my right to post my opinion
which certainly has been a topic here.

Let's see how far we can take this baby, and teach those Phillie punks a lesson.--

How 'bout one of Mr.Met sodomizing the (yarmulke wearing) Phanatic?

there is no reason he should have to remove his yamuka to trick some anti-semite asshole. i've personally never experienced anti-semitism out of someone in a position of authority, but i'm 22 and have lived my whole life in nyc. those who are older or have been to other areas have i am sure had to deal with much bigger idiots.

yeah, baseball has been pretty good about that in my lifetime...the only "discrimination" you see at Shea is age based.... if you are under 25 the ushers ask if these are your real seats, if you are older they dont even look at you.

Dag, I was gonna predict someone would say that and then forgot.
If I had predicted it online, everyone would have been amazed.

>>>freedom of speech definetaly protects<<<

Yeah, 'definetaly' ... just not here. I can't post anything controversial
without getting hammered left and right.

I remember one time you actually told me you'd kick my ass
over something I posted and then igonored my answer and PM.
Guess us non-Jews gotta just suck it up and live with that. It's
my burden to bear, no, it's everyone who isn't like you who has
to bear the burden. The weight is terrible, but I'll make it.

I was responding to the author's contention that if an anti-Semitic banner was posted, the guards would break speed records to have it removed.
I was recounting days, that I experienced, when that wasn't necessarilly the case.

And yes, it was in the 50's.
(How else could it have happened at the three ballparks I mentioned?)
And yes, times were much different then.
And yes, my post was a full of stereotypes.

But

I even asked if that would happen today. I didn't say it would.
But I saw those things happen for myself.
Many times.

yes freedom of speech protects your right to your comments, my right to hammer them, the philly fans' right to boo santa, and even the racist's opinion. it's a wonderful thing.

Good gosh, I state an "opinion" that you don't like and you get all cranky.
Frankly, it's people like you who do more commenting, policing, and com-
plaining about what's posted on this forum than the people who provide it.
