Just heard on WFAN that he said he knows he pretty much has no shot of returning.

I do not feel comfortable with Victor Diaz as the everyday rightfielder in the middle of a playoff race. No hit, no field right now.

Well I suppose that was expected, just hope that wasn't his last game as a Met.

Diaz scares me, but this is where we find out if he has a future with this team. I wouldn't be upset if the Mets bring up Valent once rosters expand, which would bring us right back to where we were with RF on opening day.

the posts says that while cam was in the hospital, padres players (the article specifically mentions eric young and trevor hoffman) came to visit him. i love the padres.

I don't want to see Diaz out there every day, but I don't know that we have much of an alternative.

i still like Diaz and think he'll turn it around at the plate soon... he hasn't been as bad as its made out to be.

He's got no glove, though... it scares the pants off of me having him in rightfield.

Cameron

He is responsible for not knowing he is not a CF anymore and shouls have begged off on that ball. Victor Diaz will be our RF for a long, long time...I hope...

People have been wanting to see what Diaz can do all year, and now he gets the chance and people have reservations. If the Braves can hold first place by showing patience with a whole bunch of rookies for the whole season, I don't see why Diaz going 8 for 26 since his call-up is a cause for concern.

I have no doubt that Diaz is a capable hitter. His defense however is a different story. The Mets have little choice but to see what Diaz can do as a starter.

I do think that Valent should be on the Mets roster though. He could be a valuable addition to the bench as well as a spot starter in RF or first base.

It's not his bat that's the cause for concern.
It's that I've counted at least 6 balls that he's misplayed in about as many games. You need to hit like Lou Gehrig's better brother if you're going to play the OF like that.

Admittedly I haven't had much of a chance to watch lately -- a birthday and a brother's wedding will do that to you -- so I can't comment on the defense, other than to say I had a feeling it would be shaky. It's in the best long-term interests of the team to get a good look at Diaz up here, and while I'd have preferred to have Cameron out there, the Mets could get some benefit from the situation.

PS I'd like to see Valent up here too. Gerald Williams doesn't play center nearly well enough to justify keeping his sorry bat around.

When you see him play the outfield in person, you understand why the Mets tried him at 1B at Norfolk. He's TERRIBLE out there.

Diaz ifets bad jumps, takes bad routes, makes poor decisions and doesn;t have great hands. Other than that he's a pretty good outfielder.

The Braves have a far different situation than the Mets do. They've been readying their farm system for a turnaround for years. Jeff Francoeur is going to be a superstar. Andruw "Dutch" Jones added a power stroke to his Glove o' Gold. John Schuerholz and Bobby Cox are John Schuerholz and Bobby Cox. And Leo "Rocking Chair" Mazzone has a magic touch. I hate them, loathe them, and despise them, but they're good at what they do.

Ron Darling, the Nationals TV color analyst summed up Diaz's play in the outfield yesterday quite nicely: "This guy is awful."

Sure, he's awful, but the question is can he get better?

Early reviews of his work at 1B were pretty decent, actually, and he's only been out in RF for the better part of this season. I think we should pick a spot for the rest of the season and see how he improves.

There is only one position in the lineup where I think Diaz will ever be average. Sadly for his career as a Met, is doesn't exist in the NL. End of unfair snap-judgement.

I want Diaz playing wherever he can do the least damage with his glove.

I believe JD has a spot on his slow-pitch softball team.
