Letting Wright hit his way up the lineup. It may have cost a win or two in 2005, though that's hard to place. It seems to have helped smooth the development for Wright, though there's no way to know for sure. Add your own.

This is hard..... I agree with the way Willie has handled aging sluggers , specifically how he has handled dropping them down in the line up.

I really liked Willie's thoughts on the doubleheader against the Reds last week where he said he deliberately put the A lineup behind Santana in the first game because winning the first game of the DH puts more pressure on the other team and also puts the possibility of the DH sweep on the table. (Hoping he does the same today).

Actually, I do have a sartorial compliment. He's never worn his Yankee number as a Met. Bully!

Remarkably patient. His reluctance to hit the panic button has served the team well at times (and may also have cost it, but you take the good with the bad). Doesn't suffer fools kindly. I admire his iconoclasm in refusing to give the media and fans what they want with regards to ejections and overturned buffet tables. Old school values. Deals out praise to rookies like manhole covers and insists on a kind of "I'm from Missouri" stance even when it cokes to those who might have been anointed by the press and fan base sooner.
