Moises Speaks

Some Moises Alou quotes:

The Mets also watched Moises Alou come off the field in the bottom of the third. With one out, Alou took himself out of the game with a strain in his left calf. Marlon Anderson replaced Alou, who said he was not sure when he would play again.

“I could barely move,” Alou said. “I am not very optimistic about it.”

How about Moises Alou suddenly walking off the field in the third inning because of what was later diagnosed as a strained left calf? Don't expect to see Alou anytime soon, either. Shortly after the Braves hammered the Mets again, 11-4, Randolph announced that Alou was headed back to New York today to be further examined - and likely put on the disabled list.

"To tell you the truth, being realistic, I've had this before and I'm not optimistic about it," Alou said. "Hopefully it's a miracle and it's a couple day thing. But it doesn't feel good right now."

Mets outfielder Moises Alou left with one out in the third because of a cramp in his left calf. "It's been bothering me three or four days," Alou said.

Did he tell the trainers that it was bothering him , was he trying to play through it , with his history that would seem not very smart.

Chavez
Beltran
Anderson

What a career.

You know? Call Barry Bonds. How bad could it be? He's not going to make the team worse.

Barry. And he can have his #24 too, for all I care. It ain't retired, and it doesn't appear that it will be.

He can make the team more embarassing.

That's a really evil idea.

You wanna know what's even eviler? Saying that Barry's better than Willie was.

I have looked into the crystal ball and seen Juan Pierre joining the Mets in Colorado, Aaron Heilman sent to the Dodgers, Ruddy Lugo called up, and seamhead Met fans diving into the Hudson River.

Sidenote: Well, Barry's clearly one of the three top hitters of all time, and probably takes Ted Williams number two spot, depending in part on whether or not you want to acknowledge that during Williams' years flying warplanes he was still the best hitter in the world.

But. Barry. Used. 'Roids.

He may still have been that great, but it's hard to unscramble them eggs

I always root for Barry when he races against the Presidents at Nationals games.

Oh wait, what?

Sammy Sosa?

So Rubin sez Raul Casanova's been summoned from New Orleans but not activated. Also, Easley will miss tonioght's game so as to attend his son's high school graduation.

His son is named Rocky, so he's got that going for him.

Rocky Easley?

I sense a Neil Diamond song parody:

Rock me gently, Rocky Easley

No Easley, no Alou, no Church, no roster moves.

Are the Mets going to have enough players to field a team tonight? Maybe they can borrow Roger McDowell and put him in the outfield for old times sakes.

Lennon on what bucket posted.

Jorge Sosa, who had been DFA'ed, was released today by the Mets.

Damion Easley was given permission to leave the team to attend the high school graduation of his son, Rocky, in Arizona.

Raul Casanova is en route to Atlanta as the Mets wait on the status of Moises Alou, who returned to New York this morning to have his strained left calf examined.

Alou HAS been DL'd and Casanova activated.

Why Casanova? Basically, he's the only ML-ready bat.

Church not starting but probably available for PH-ing.

I'd have given Pascucci the shot. But either way, damn what a mess.

wow. Alou managed to get a whopping 14 games in before returning to his home ont he DL. i still like him because he is good when healthy (and they weren't foolish enough to sign him long-term like they did castillo)

is there really no better option to call-up than casanova? wheres mike carp? michel abreu?

Brady Clark blew it by getting hurt, but I'd've gone for Pasucucci either way.

And I got bashed for calling the strain last night...yikes...At any rate get Val Pascucci already..he can fill in at first and left and get a few knocks.
