Does anyone keep stats for foul balls?

I'm sure someone in the stat world must - although if it's Elias they probably won't tell you unless you pay them. My point is that between Pelfrey, Santana & Heilman a large part of their pitch counts this year seem to be tied up in balls fouled off and ABs extended. How the AB eventually ends doesn't even seem to matter, it just takes them so many pitches to get there too often. Maybe it's one of those 'bitch about your own team' thing since I'm not watching any other tem this closely, but I swear those 3 in particular seem to have a ridiculously tough time finishing off hitters.

I always wind up keeping that stat because when I keep score at a game I wind up tallying them as part of keeping a pitch count. Funny thing is, over his 3 years with the Mets, I've always been convinced that it was John Maine who was the worst offender at having a high pitch count of foul-offs with 2 strikes.

According to ESPN's sortable stats, Heilman has the most pitches per plate appearance (4.19) for the Mets (which isn't exactly the stat we are looking for, but closest I could find). Maine is second (4.15), followed by Perez (3.99), Wise (3.93), and Pelfrey (3.87). Heilman's 4.19 ranks him 25th in the NL.
