Relive the Glory Days of Top 40

WABC, usually a strident (to be kind) talk radio station, rewinds to its glory days as Musicradio 77, the Top 40 station of Top 40 stations, every Memorial Day, going on right now 'til 6 PM. Fun not only for the hits of days gone by but for the airchecks that give us the DJs and the commercials and newsbreaks as they happened.

Check out the lineup here. If you're outside the NYC area, listen live here.

XM replays Casey Kasem's countdowns in their entirety for random days in the 1970's. I don't listen but I'm sure some out there would enjoy a trip down Nostalgia Ln.

I listen to his '70s and '80s countdowns. They are a joy, especially with no commercials.

An iPod can play any song you like, but there's something warm about it coming out of a radio, even a satellite radio.

Nicely put. My son doesn't understand my love for XM. He says that I can just get the songs I like and put my iPod on shuffle. I could, but I like just putting on the radio, and saying, much of the time, "Hey! That's a good song!"

I listened to Casey Kasem religiously every Sunday in the early 80's which was most likely already past his prime but still entertaining for a kid in the suburbs. I can still do a pretty decent Kasem impersonation.
