Yanks load the bases in the top of the 11th but the Orioles turn a nifty 4-2-5 double play on a sharp ARod grounder. Next batter though has the RBI single.

Bottom of the 11th, Mora leads off with a single. Huff triples him home to tie and then after 2 intentional walks, Alex Cintron hits the deep fly ball to win it.

The Cleveland Native Americans pulled off a triple steal last night ... well, sort of.

Bases loaded (duh!) when the ChiSox pitcher pulls the old 'fake-to-3rd/throw to 1st trick' ... and it works!
Runner caught off 1st heads towards 2nd with Sox 1st sacker Konerko in pursuit. Naturally the other two runners break also so Kornerko turns his attention elsewhere but his throw home is off-line as the runner slides in safely. Could/Should have been an error if you ask me, but it wasn't. Meanwhile the runners from 1st & 2nd simply waltz into 2nd & 3rd and all three get credit for SBs.

And speaking of odd plays, Buck Showalter on BB2N is talking about a triple play (in the minors) where the ball never touches the ground or a glove.
* I couldn't imagine how this occured when they teased the piece a few minutes before explaining it -- See if you can*

- Runners 1st & 2nd/0 outs
- Manager Buck starts the runners, batter hits a pop-up
- Umps call 'Infield Fly Rule'; batter is out (1), runners allowed to advance at their own risk
- But runner from 1st isn't paying attention and continues past 2nd where he's called out (2) for passing the guy retreating to 2nd
- So where does the pop-up come down? ... Off the helmet of the retreating runner who's called out for getting hit with a batted ball (3)

Triple play and the defense never touched the ball once.

not worth a new thread

Wakefield has thrown only 61 pitches through 6 innings and is trailing 1-0, and it being the AL he cant be pinch-hit for.
Not that he'll necessarily do it, but who was the last pitcher to throw a complete game loss?

Roy Halladay has thrown two complete game losses this season.

shows how little attention i pay to the other league.

ARZ fans gotta be mad, with 2 on and 2 out Chris Burke grounded out...on a 3-0 pitch

5-30:

Cornelius with a walk-off to propel TB past the ChiSox.

Clifford the Big Red Floyd remains high on my list of former Mets that I find it easy to root for.
