So sez Adam Rubin, and referred to in the "Shake Up" post.

I was gonna say, Wise has been just awful this year.

Yeah Wise hasn't been good, but tough to kill him based on just 7 IPs

What's this latest injury?

Rubin says his injury is he's "ailing."

Yeah, I don't wanna kill Wise on 7 IP but for the fact that he's thrown 7 IP while topping 82 and a half on the gun and getting hit, and getting hurt...

It just seems to me Heilman would be a bigger loss from our potential as a team.

Agreed. From 2005-2007 Heilman was our best and most consistent reliever.

This was no 4 months of excellence a la Sanchez '06. It was 3 years! I can't see any value in just throwing that away.

I think the long-man role is perfect for Heilman right now and despite the problems he's had, I'd like to see him stay on the club.

I'd venture to guess that the "getting hurt" part has something to do with him only topping 82. And a fastball that slow is bad, bad news for a changeup pitcher.

Hopefully they can shut him down for a while and he'll be back to strength by the stretch. Not to imply the Mets will be playing for anything by then.
