Should be a cracking tournament and I think France will win it , they are however in the " group of death" so it's possible they won't even make it out of the group.

Graou A is dominated by Portuguese star Ronaldo stating his desire of lleaving Manchester United to join Real Madrid , problem is he is under contract and the Man Utd owners said they would let him rot in the stands rather than sell him for the reported 100 million euro. Still I think Portugal along with Czech will advance.

Group B should be a breeze for Germany with Croatia and Poland fighting it out for second place.

Group C will be a dogfight with I think France and Germany going through.

Group D has some widely inconsistent big tournament performers in Spain and Russia, still I think both go through.

No Ireland , Republic or North , no England , no Scotland or Wales either. It certainly does take away some of the fun in watching it.

Yeah, Ireland's my side to root for due to ancestry. My wife has a German background so maybe I can root for Germany. Or maybe I'll just root for Italy to lose.

Watched both games today , really a perfect day to stay indoors with the heat and humidity.

The first game with co-hosts Switzerland against the Czechs was a pitiful affair , both teams were hesitant and the Swiss will feel they deserved a point , they were the more adventures team in the second half and could have had a penalty at the death but the ref waved it away.

The second game was a much better affair with the Portuguese a very deserving winner , the Turks would have been more than happy with a draw and with a goal down they went for it and exposed themselves at the back and were down two with no hope. Portugal hit the woodwork several times and the Turkish goalie made a brilliant save form a Ronaldo free kick , a more than decent game to watch.

Ahh I hate ESPN , the self proclamind biggest sports network in the world could at least send a crew of commentators over there and not do commentry from the studio in Bristol , I just don't like it and never have.

The Poles seem to think that they looked a lot better losing 2-0 to Germany in the opener here than while losing by the same score a few years ago in the World Cup.

The Poles just roll over for the Germans , it absolutely blows not being able to see Italy V Holland.

From what I have read the French looked like they didn't care much.

Yeah, France looked like the Mets. Henry was hurt and didn't play. Malouda created a couple of nice chances, but came up empty. I really like him. Wanted to see Nasri, but he didn't come on til like the 75th minute.

Robin van Persie's supposed to start for the Dutch, I think. I thought he was dead.

Not updating this much becasue I've not seen any games , having to work blows , I've been following online though.

Holland trashed France yesterday 4 -1 and in their first game they trashed Italy 3 - 1, without doubt they have provided the goals of the tournament so far

What a game today , Portugal were through with two wins in two games and playing a Swiss team that was out so that game mattered little , the Swiss won 2-0 with Portugal resting players to avoid injury , always a dangerous game that. Still even with the second string playing they would not have wanted to lose.

The other game in the group and the one that counted was Turkey versus the Czechs , winner take all with a place in the quarter finals.

The Turks were dead and buried down two goals with 15 minutes left , it was a good game to that point with the Turks dominating possession but showing the fighting spirit they are known for they scored in the 75th minute , still they were down 2 - 1 with only minutes when arguably the worlds best goalie Petr Cech dropped a routine cross and the inspirational Nihat pounced to bring the Turks level.

This game is going to penalties right? , wrong , with Nihat again scoring , this time with a brilliant curler into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area. A truly brilliant game and brilliant tournament so far.

I forgot to mention that after they took the lead the turkish goalie got a red card so they had to stick an outfield player in goal as they had used all thrtee subs , amazing stuff.

Russia looked like the best team this year, but didn't make it through.
