Alou's calf "stiffened up" during the rain delay and is out today.
He may need another MRI.

Beat Brandon Webb...just for the hell of it.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Go Big Pelf. Destroyed the leadoff baserunner with a pickoff and it's 123

Jun 11 2008 05:39 PM

Minaya in the booth explaining what it is.........it's a " glut" that the Mets are in , at least I think that's what he said.

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 05:42 PM

Oh please tell me he and everybody are resigning.

metirish
Jun 11 2008 05:48 PM

I like how he lumped Ron and Gary in with " everyone that works here" wanting this thing to work , " because we all care"....

Good pitching going on here by both pitchers.

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 05:55 PM

I liked how one of the "theories" Omar didn't label a misconception is that the Mets suck.

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 11 2008 05:59 PM

Alou out of the line-up AGAIN???? In-freaking-credible.

Poor Pelfrey pitching well again, and has no support to show for it.

Yeah but when Alou is healthy he can roll out of bed and get hits , problem is he gets injured rolling out of bed he's so shot.

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 06:03 PM

Mets Guy in Mich. and I are tied at a Joe Foyish 1,587 posts apiece!

At least we were 'til...now.

Which is when the Mets get first and third and nobody out!

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 06:07 PM

Oh Foy!

KC
Jun 11 2008 06:08 PM

Omar sucks!

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 06:10 PM

Mets take it to Webb...literally.

metirish
Jun 11 2008 06:10 PM

Delgado hits one back to Webb who takes it on the arm or back , runners on the corners with one out , Mets up two tp zip.

G-Fafif
Jun 11 2008 06:13 PM

Marlons puts his game where his bizarre note is. Either way, it's 3-0.

Benjamin Grimm
Jun 11 2008 06:17 PM

Gary asked Omar "what surprises you the most?" and Omar said the "streakiness."

The question made me think: Of all the reasons the Mets are around .500, are any of them particularly surprising? The only one is that Beltran is having a subpar season so far. Nothing else seems surprising. Not the injuries. Not the uneven performances from Perez.

metsguyinmichigan
Jun 11 2008 06:19 PM

I'm back -- sneaking peeks at work.

G-FAFIF, I gotta catch up with some quality posts because Joe Foy is most certainly an omen that is bad for all of us.

Nice to see Pelf get some support! Now let's hold 'em. Somebody send Heilman to run an errand to Jersey or something....

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jun 11 2008 06:21 PM

That was a fun inning. You gotta love it when a guy whacks the opposing pitching in the ass with a line drive. And it was right that they got Beltran home after he drove in the first 2.

I like the Mets again, I'm such a wuss.

Sanchez too.

All I think are as rested as Vargas or moreso, particularly Schoeneweis.

Basic bullpen principles:

1) Your releivers should get gradually better as you approach the ninth, gradually worse as you proceed past the ninth into extra innings.

2) Your releivers should tend to get gradually less durable as you approach the ninth, gradually more durable as you proceed past the ninth into extra iinnings.

Let's do it again tomorrow.

Without the blown save and extra innings.

But I think I need to defer celebration until they get back to .500.

Fuck that. I am celebrating a nice win in extra frames.

Not for nothing, but Willie got out-bonered tonight.

  • Arizona kept Brandon Lyon locked in their pen, looking for the save opportunity that would never come.

  • They brough an innings guy in before they had used up their shorter relievers, and ended up wasting an at-bat to keep him in the game.

  • They had an extra batting threat in Owings (maybe better than anybody available on the Mets bench) and wasted him bunting.
Thanks, Bob Melvin.
