I don't root for the Mets to lose (ever) but if they do, perhaps it will just let the ax finally fall where it may and we can get on with the rest of the season.

I gotta say I was like, "Win it for Willie" in the 9th in Game 1. Yeah but, you know. Wow.

That's twice in the last couple of days that they've missed runners hung out to dry.
Castro missed that potential groundout DP a few games ago.

btw, if it comes down to running on their OF, Josh Hamilton has one of the great throwing arms in the game. He was throwing 90+ in HS back when he was drafted.
Shows you what kind of offensive player he was when they take a lefty throwing 90+ and DON'T put him on the mound.

+1

(And the Mets tie the game).

Looks like we have an LA-esque late arriving crowd for Game 2, that is the problem with single admission DHs when they aren't as many as they used to be.

Just like many people probably thought Game 1 was Saturday's make up tickets wise, I'll bet you many people thought Game 2 was a 7pm start and are still heading to the ballpark.

Hardly. The place was plenty full during game 1. There are plenty of people, however, who are not going to stick around for a second game when they've got school/work tomorrow. Especially those traveling an hour+ back to Long Island, Jersey or upstate.

I'm having a hard time understanding how people who have tickets that said "Sunday, 1:10 PM" are going to think that the game starting at that time is the makeup game for Saturday.

OK, it's time to remind this pitcher that he's on the Texas Rangers and he suxx.

Before the Cancel AB, before the pen comes into the game, I say BAD MOVE.

The pen stinks and it's Robinson Cancel, for heaven's sake.

(I wouldn't have PH'd either)

HOORAY! But it was still a bad move. I'm happy for Willie.

Cancel makes you eat your words and me eat my thoughts, bmfc.

If crow was Twinkies, we'd look like, well, Robinson Cancel.

Happy to do it, OlerudOwned. I just didn't want to second-guess; that's easy.

Put THAT in the books.

Killer pen for once -- 9 up, 9 down!

My brother took his 6 year old daughter to her first game and she made it all the way through the 8th inning of the first game. That was great and far exceeded what he expected. He called me with three comments:

The apple didn't rise (make your own Viagra joke here) after either homerun.
You can buy a girls pink Mets hat that smells of strawberrys. $20.
As he left, Shea employees were at the exits imploring fans to stay for the second game.

Did those Shea employees include Willie Randolph?

Well, I can no longer say the home team is undefeated while I am at the park this year (6-0 up until Game 1 of the DH), but at least I can still say I have always left Shea immediately following a win.

Was totally psyched for the old school doubleheader. Had a crappy ticket but in between games intercepted people leaving from the field level and got myself a ticket. Sat about 10 row back almost right behind home plate.

They seriously need to do that more often.
