When was the last time the Mets made a trade that turned out much better for one team or the other? I'm having trouble of thinking of many that stand out where it's very easy to say the Mets either did the reaming or got reamed.

Benson for Julio and Maine worked out pretty well for us.

Yabbut, LoDuca was really not special for us. I don't consider that a trade where the Mets reamed seomeone. I don't think ten years from now that trade will be remembered as such.

If Benson for Julio and Maine doesn't do it for you...

I think LoDuca's 2006 was pretty good, and if we got him for what is essentially the money on his contract, it was a good deal. If you're thinking blatant "steals," then yes, there's Person/Olerud or Dykstra and McDowell for Samuel etc.

Blatant steals may be slightly stronger than what I meant but sure that's a way to put it.

Well, yeah, semantics and all that. What exactly did you mean by "much better" in your initial question, then?

In my last post I said go with "blatant steals". Or that's what I meant to say. I'm not feeling especially coherent right now. I'm getting old.

Heath Bell and Royce Ring to San Diego for Ben Johnson and Jon Adkins is looking pretty darn blatant this weekend.
