If its gonna be a 84-78 team no time like the present..

OMAR & WILLIE & PETERSON BYE HOJO INTERIM

BELTRAN-DUMP SALARY & ATTITUDE FOR WHATEVER VALUE EXISTS
CASTILLO- PROSPECTS IF POSIBLE
DELGADO-PROSPECTS IF POSSIBLE OR HE CAN RETIRE AS A MET
HEILMAN & PEREZ & PELREY CAL THE TWINS OR DFA
CANCEL=CANCELED TO TRIPLE AAA
PAGAN-BYE
ALOU-BYE
EASLEY-REIREMENT HOME
MARLON SEE ABOVE

The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting different results..I thin we're there

These post-game press conferences are all the same..Willie-we're not hitting..David--Thats baseball. And NO ONE ELSE TO SPEAK

Of the players you listed:

Delgado: Is being paid $16 million this year, and we are on the hook for a $4 million option buyout of next year. I suppose we could eat some money on that but otherwise his trade value is low.

Alou and Perez: are free agents at the end of the year. Alou would have ot show some extended health to have value, and Perez has tanked his value so far. We can't expect to be getting top flight prospects in return for either of them. Even if we traded both of them, we'd be saving at best $8 million.

Castillo is signed through the 2011 season. Nobody's taking that in a trade.

There's no sense in giving up on Pelfrey; the Mets need him (badly) to be ready as a starter next year.

Easley is signed through this year, we won't get anything better by dumping him.

Anderson has no value while injured. He's signed through 2009.

Beltran and Heilman are the only two players (that you listed) that could viably bring back meaningful pieces. I'm curious as to what Beltran could bring back in a trade, but my gut feeling is that it's better for the Mets to hold on to him.

That's not the definition of insanity.
