Yankee make up game

It will be a Day/Night, two-stadium DH (no surprise there) but it will be on [u:1ad16e8991]Friday[/u:1ad16e8991] (two weeks from today). Game 1 at [u:1ad16e8991]2:00[/u:1ad16e8991] in the house that John Lindsey rebuilt, and then [u:1ad16e8991]8:00 PM[/u:1ad16e8991] for the regularly scheduled game at Shea.

Apparently they were waiting to see if ESPN would pick up the Sunday game as a night game, except that they're almost through their quota of MFY games already and they want to save one until the end of the season when they can be the ones to slobber over the LAST EVER GAME at YS-II.
There was also some talk of going on 9/11 (both teams are off) but one or both sides didn't want to give up the off day.

Too bad. Would have been a nice thing on 9-11

The right thing to do would have been to play the game on Saturday or Sunday. Fans holding tickets for what was originally a Friday night game should be able to see the makeup game without taking a day off work.

Does ESPN really have a quota of Yankees games? Are they not allowed to show any team more than X number of times?

I wasn't aware of that.

I forget the numbers, but yeah. Both ESPN (Sundays anyway) and Fox can only air any given team so many times. There might be an exception for Fox at the very end of the season when they want to be more flexible. I don't think it applies to all those weeknights when the MFYs seem to be on ESPN.

Let us hope September 21 is truly the final baseball game at MFYS II. That said, it seems rather bogus to push it to a Sunday night as opposed to afternoon, when the Babe and Lou and Billy Martin would have a better view from their Bill Gallo clouds, et al (cough, cough).

I'm so glad Shea lucked into the final day of the year for closure's sake...ESPN doesn't do a game on the final Sunday night so we're safe in case they cared. (Postseason exception is permitted, of course.)

I hate when the Yankees play us in makeup.

So the fans w/tickets for the original Friday night game now have tickets for a Friday afternoon game and the fans wtih tickets for a 7 PM game now have tickets for a 8 PM game! Baseball loves its fans!

Yeah, G-F's been on a roll and has made me smile (and lol) a number of
times the last couple of weeks.

I'm also smiling now knowing the last game of the season can't be a night game.
