Determined to stave off Metly depression with Mix Tape Polls, I bring you glam rock's greatest artist. Though it tears David Bowie to pieces, he knows it true.

T. Rex had two songs that became staples of US AOR, but were much bigger in the UK and the RoI, so expect our Irish contingent to vote several times. I mostly became aware of their deeper catalog through subsequent covers by bauhaus, the Violent Femmes and others. Heckuva lotta hot licks and sexy goofy lyrics.

1) "Telegram Sam" (covered in the eighties by bauhaus)

2) "Children Of The Revolution" (covered in the eighties by the Violent Femmes)

(Creepy alternative video of "Children of the Revolution")

3) "20th Century Boy" (covered in the eighties by Bang Tango and Girlschool)

4) "Jeepster" (covered in the eighties by the Polecats)

5) "Bang a Gong" (covered in the eighties by the Power Station)

6) "Metal Guru" (I don't know if it was covered in the eighties, but the Smiths stole the main riff for "Panic")

7) "Ride a White Swan" (covered by many and also ripped off by Morrissey for "Certain People I Know")

I've decided that I like watching German kids dance.

You know your BP Fallon , I voted for "Children Of The Revolution" , like that song a lot , actually it was a tough choice and I never knew "Get it On" was " Bang A Gong"....

Most people I know call it "Smoke a Bong."

I think the Femmes did a great cover of Children of the Revolution. And I don't really mind the Power Station's take on Bang a Gong either.

I was not familiar with Telegram Sam till just now, it sounds like a more danceable version of 'Gong' I might vote for that one just to shake things up.

The Femmes one is the only one that clearly outstrips the original. And I'm stll considering voting for the original.

Five votes in, and our two US staples are being shut out.

Been listening to them a fair amount lately. Great stuff.

Went "20th Century Boy" but "Jeepster" "Metal Guru" and "Telegram Sam" all got consideration. Hell, I love "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" also. Agree that Femmes' "Children" kicks ass.

Confession. I thought Power Station rocked. Especially "Bang-a-Gong." I haven't heard that album in a long time but I might like it still if I did.
