It's sadly come down to this , from David Lennon's blog
metirish Jun 16 2008 06:58 PM |
Lennon just posted again , says all the coaches are at the stadium.
Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 07:16 PM |
this is pathetic. endorse the coaching staff or let them go.

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS! RICK PETERSON... IS IN WILLIE RANDOLPH'S DUGOUT! HE'S COMING BACK!
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 07:24 PM |
Let's be a little fair, because we're hanging on rumours, doesn't mean the Mets are spreading or fanning them, or mistreating their staff.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 07:24 PM |
The seeming indecisiveness of the Mets ownership and General Manager is embarrassing. They need to make a decision one way or the other and carry through on it with conviction. This day to day melodrama isn't doing the players, the manager and coaches, or the Mets image to future players any good. Looking on from the outside, the Mets franchise appears to be a disorganized, indecisive mess at present.

that was great, i heard the bitch's voice

Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 07:33 PM |
maybe its all the media, but all the Mets have to do is say "Willie is our manager, we have confidence in him, he and his coaching staff will be staying put."

Who the hell is Dave Lennon, anyway?
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 07:40 PM |
Mets beat writer at Newsday.

I don't think it's all the media. I just don't think it indicts the Mets as much as you all think. They deserve to make decisions on their own stupid timetable, no matter how many bloggers are chomping at the bit.

I thought reporters were supposed to check the facts before they write them.

I thought Dave Lennon was the eighth Beatle, the guy who played ukulele.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 07:46 PM |
All he said was that, at some point this afternoon, he hadn't seen either Peterson or Nieto.
cooby Jun 16 2008 07:47 PM |
I found his "blog", I could be that accurate sitting on my back deck looking out into the woods.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 07:48 PM |
Somebody please set cooby up with a blog.

9:54 pm Just heard an owl. Willie Randolph had a pregame snack of jelly bread followed by two Mentos. No word on Rick Peterson's meal. Carlos Beltran shaved earlier today and Wagner had a boogie in his nose. Everyone saw it.
soupcan Jun 16 2008 07:57 PM |
So Peterson didn't eat?
DocTee Jun 16 2008 07:57 PM |
But didn't the ownership and Omar come out earlier and state that Willie was safe? Haven't they already made their decision to ride this one out? Or is it that the media is protraying the Mets as indecisive. Seems to me that they made their choice-- a bad one, but they've made it.

Rory Marcus and Mark Gubicza calling it for the Angels. Sounds like a party crew.
SteveJRogers Jun 16 2008 08:12 PM |

Yeah, thats all the "report" was, just a blog. Just entertaining his readers in case "inquiring minds" wanted to know what the latest was. Like I said in the Jacket thread, this "info" was put on the air on 1050 ESPN Radio, which is just about as irresponsible as putting out info from MetMusingsAndMore.blogspot.com if I decided to write "A source with MLB.com told me Willie Randolph is on the Mets charter to Anaheim right now" last night. Its a blog, an EDITORIAL devise, not really a great news gathering devise. Yeah, its good for gauging opinions on subjects, but in terms of getting actual news, come on, do some digging of your own as well.
SteveJRogers Jun 16 2008 08:14 PM |
Mark Gubicza got inducted into the Royals HOF last year, and Rory Marcus' "Happy Recap" esque call is apparantly calling a victory a "Halo" victory. OE: <-- Bosiclair is that close on the outside looking in of the top 125 Mets of All-Time on our rankings?

I won't see the finish of this but I like the start.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 08:23 PM |
Beltran is clearly a better hitter as a DH and therefore should be immediately traded to an AL team for like lots of good players and stuff.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 08:26 PM |
That's an error by Castillo.
Fman99 Jun 16 2008 08:29 PM |
Nice DP!
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 08:31 PM |
Good staying-out-of-the-big-innings fundamental play that I like to see.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 08:36 PM |
Anderson, who should have had two assists that inning, now has the hot bat.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 08:37 PM |
Mets up 3-1 as the lefties are having no problem getting around on Weaver's heat.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 08:38 PM |
The hit parade continues as Schneider singles in Anderson.
Centerfield Jun 16 2008 08:41 PM |
No TV tonight. Hotwire sucks. I'm relying on you guys for details.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 08:45 PM |
Welcome to my world CF. I rarely get to see the games. I follow the Mets vicariously through these IGT's.
Fman99 Jun 16 2008 08:47 PM |
In that case I'll mention that Big Pelf made a nice play covering first on that grounder.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 08:49 PM |
Couple of hot shots handled by Delgado thus far.
Fman99 Jun 16 2008 08:52 PM |

Marlon Anderson: Doubles Dispenser.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 09:06 PM |
Marlon's determined to get off the interstate. Drive him home, Endy.
Fman99 Jun 16 2008 09:08 PM |
Marlon left on 2nd after a can of corn to center.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 09:20 PM |
WTF Carlos...
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 09:22 PM |
He probably doesn't get the DP on that but he still shoulda gone to 2nd.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 09:24 PM |
I like the two inning-ending plays nailing the trailing runner. That's a team that's cahfident they can get one run back.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 09:30 PM |
For the second time this game, the Angels have silenced their announcers for the bulk of the half inning.
Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 09:55 PM |
pelfrey worked out of trouble, now lets get him some runs!!
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 09:59 PM |
More quiet broadcasting from the Angels, with goofy camera angles. I'm loving it.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 10:02 PM |
Reyes has a knack for keeping those inside pitches fair better than most LHBs.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 10:03 PM |
The Mets have something brewing in the top of the 7th. With one out, Chavez singles and Reyes doubles him to third. That will be all for Weaver.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:04 PM |
Pretty good game going here

John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:06 PM |
Attaboy Castillo!
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 10:06 PM |
The game just got better with Castillo singling to left to drive home two more runs for the Mets.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 10:07 PM |
Castillo didn't have much room to squeeze that hit between the line and the LFer.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:08 PM |
See, these tack-ons are the fruit of the confidence the Mets showed (David Wright among them) when they cut off the ball to get trailing runners, letting single runs score but staying out of big innings.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:09 PM |
The Angels didn't cut off.
themetfairy Jun 16 2008 10:10 PM |
Nice to see the Mets score some extra runs for a change!
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:14 PM |
I think that's a good point. The tight, playing-scared-to-lose Mets make desperate plays to the plate (like Delgado earlier). Schneid's throw to 3rd stands a good chance to be the underrated play of the game.
Frayed Knot Jun 16 2008 10:14 PM |
Well that inning sure fluffed up that kid's 0.69 ERA
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:15 PM |
Always want to dig deep in the pen in game one.
Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 10:15 PM |
now these are the runs we needed.
Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 10:26 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 16 2008 10:26 PM |
That long 12 pitch walk to Matthews was enough for Pelfrey in my opinion. Bring whoever is warming (Feliciano i think) into the game now.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:26 PM |
I'm sitting here wondering if 5 runs with 9 outs to go is adequate at 12:24 am. Not with 2 on and none out.
Centerfield Jun 16 2008 10:26 PM |
Shoulda stuck with your gut.
Rockin' Doc Jun 16 2008 10:27 PM |
Kendrick going to need oxygen at this rate. Damn it, now he can walk to second.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:28 PM |
Big Pelf is overthrowing.
Centerfield Jun 16 2008 10:30 PM |
Why is Pelfrey still in this game? Was Willie fired mid-inning?
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:30 PM |
Strangely, I prefer the single by Mathis to a walk.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:35 PM |
Could Feliciano retire the first batter he faces for once? Jeez.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:39 PM |
Two-run game.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:39 PM |
Feliciano can officially blow me.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:44 PM |
Heilman takes care of Hunter like he did Guerrero, I'll dance my happy dance.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:45 PM |
You're asking a lot.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jun 16 2008 10:46 PM |
Well shut my face.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:47 PM |
Gwreck Jun 16 2008 10:48 PM |
AG/DC: In the event a YouTube video of your happy dance is unavailable, perhaps you can describe it, contrasting (if necessary) with Dickshot's "happy dance" witnessed at the CPF gathering last month.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:49 PM |
Somebody thought turning around switch hitters would be the next-most effective strategy. If Heilman was right, he's the choice right there.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 10:51 PM |
I see Oliver can still make a lefty's butt fly toward the dugout.
Gwreck Jun 16 2008 10:54 PM |
Good IGT tonight. Gonna wrap up the final innings with Howie and Wayne, if I can stay awake. Go get 'em Duaner and Billy.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:03 PM |
Who else has noticed that Reyes has been an old school basepath villian the last week? Wow.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 16 2008 11:06 PM |
Props to Aaron. I'm the first guy to bemoan him coming into a game, but he proved me wrong tonight. And I'm glad he did.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:10 PM |
Wagner, are you with me tonight?
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:12 PM |
Endy tracks down the first out in Beltranian fashion.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:15 PM |
Wagner walks Chone Daddy Chone, but gets ahead of Izturiz 0-2.
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:18 PM |
Singe by Izturiz brings the tying run to the plate in Garret Anderson.

i'm here on the edge of my seat
Nymr83 Jun 16 2008 11:19 PM |
oh wow what a lucky way to get out of it for wagner, goodnight all
AG/DC Jun 16 2008 11:20 PM |
Hits it hard and lines out to Reyes for a double-play.
metsguyinmichigan Jun 16 2008 11:25 PM |
Good guys win!

See, I do not understand you Met fans that don't have the ability to watch the team. CF are you not in the NYC area? Doesn't Extra Innings solve this problem? Please 'splain yourself. And wtf is Hotwire?
