]RHP Chien-Ming Wang was examined today at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Medical Center by Yankees Team Physician, Dr. Stuart Hershon and Dr. Jason Greisberg, Foot and Ankle Specialist.

Imaging studies revealed a mid-foot sprain of the Lisfranc ligament of the right foot and a partial tear of the peroneal longus tendon of the right foot.

Wang will be on crutches and wear a protective boot for a minimum of six weeks.

With recuperation, September before he returns probbably.

And I was looking forward to the Wang-Pedro matchup... Now maybe it's Igawa.

Hank wants Joba to take Wangs turn in the rotation as well as his own.

As it stands now, looks like Joba misses us by a day -- he's scheduled for game 3 in San Diego.

By my figuring it's:
Maine-Mussina
Pedro-(Wang replacement)
some combo of above in the day-night thingy Friday

Then
Pelfrey-Pettitte Saturday
Santana-Rasner Sunday

So when will Sabathia make his first start in MFing pinstripes?

Hopefully on July 28, 2022, one week after his 42nd birthday.

Yanx were likely to be in the market for a starter anyway.
This just pushes up the timetable and the desperation.

(so how is Pavano's rehab coming anyway?)

I agree. Hopefully they'll do something really foolish.

Gammons reporting that the Yanx & Dodgers were discussing (I guess prior to Wang's problems) a Brad Penny for Robinson Cano swap, but Penny's recent shoulder woes have put that talk on hold.

Can we trade them Oliver Perez?

Is the black cat thing true? I'd like to see it.

"We don't hit, we don't run the bases," Mussina said. "You get four or five at-bats a year at most, and if you happen to get on base once or twice, you never know. We run in straight lines most of the time. Turning corners, you just don't do that."

That's because you (Mussina) play in the wrong league. The Natinal League plays real baseball, the way it was intended to be played.

Hankenstein:

“My only message is simple: The National League needs to join the 21st century. They need to grow up and join the 21st century. I’ve got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He’s going to be out. I don’t like that, and it’s about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s.”

This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they’re not used to doing it. It’s not just us. It’s everybody. It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that.”

Know what else is dangerous? Baseball.

And their pitchers are a bunch of wusses.

Gary called that "the most idiotic thing ever said" during tonight's broadcast.

The panel also would have accepted 'Crybaby', 'Clueless', or 'Numbskull'.

Why do infielders have to tag a runner? They could be hurt. That's a rule from the 1800s.

Having to playing baseball can really interfere with a baseball player's ability to play baseball.

Gary wasn't on the phone with Hotwire Customer Service for twenty minutes.

Yanx sign Sidney Ponson (recently released by Texas) to a minor league deal.

Did it ever come out what he did to piss people off down there?

He was pitching pretty well and they seem to have a high tolerance for people trying to make a comeback from stupidity.

He actually looks like he's lost weight to me.

He threatened to beat up a bartender who cut him off the night before a start then went out there and sucked. The last straw was threatening to beat up Ron Washington for pushing his start back a day.

Looks like he'd be on track to start in the Met-MFY doubleheader.

I by the way screwed this thread up badly when I went over the pitching, thinking the series would be this weekend, not next.
