The fathers of Robinson Cancel

Turns out that Cancel's 9 year gap between ML ABs isn't any kind of record. In fact, it's not even close.

43 different players had at least a 10 year gap between big league appearances with 29 more having 9 years just like Cancel. The record is 22!

Most of these long-timers were from the first half of the 20th century with several of them being war-time call-ups. Although there has also been a recent increase of guys with 5 years between big league stops as the increase in independent leagues gives these wanderers new places to keep busy (like Cancel).

I thought this thread was going to be about same-sex marriage.

A handful of those guys, I think, are coaches who came off the bench to fill in during blowouts.

Robinson Cancel's two dads have been waiting a long time.
