Schilling out for season ...

.. and quite possibly for good. He'll undergo season-ending (although it never really started) surgery on his throwing shoulder next week. What happens after that depends on what's found once they get a peek inside that oft-used joint but even he says it's likely he's thrown his last pitch.

it was a great career, partially obscured by a lack of run support and bullpen help with the not-so-good phillies. thanks for beating the yankees when it mattered.

His season may be over, but he could still pull himself out to the mound for a few key post-season innings --- blood squirting madly from the sutures in his shoulder.
