Coldplay’s Viva La Vida stolen?

No doubt you have seen the iTunes commercial featuring Coldplay and their new tune . The band Creaky Boards claim Coldplay stole the song. Striking similarity , Coldplay deny this of course . When I first saw the commercial I thought it sounded like A-Ha's The Sun Always Shines On TV , listen at around the 1 minute 30 second mark.

I agree , they might be the shittiest band ever. I'd like to punch he singer in the neck and kick him in the ...never mind.

I can never respect someone who'd name his kids Apple and Moses. That's child abuse!

Apple's one thing, but what's wrong with Moses? Moses Malone. Moses Fleetwood Walker. Isn't she half-Jewish? Wait until you hear what I'm going to name any kids that come my way. Celebrity kids end up in private school and their names give them currency. Little Mo will be fine.

She is half-Jewish, but that's a horrible name to saddle on a kid. And I don't think I've ever run into a kid named Moses through my years of dealing with kids. Trust me - that kind of kid naming is fodder for playground teasing, even in private schools.

Mose Allison? We all think Coldplay, while not having a complete monopoly on suck, owns at least Boardwalk. But this is probably coincidence. Coldplay is claiming that they were in the midst of recording sessions far, far away at the time that Creaky Boards allegedly spotted Chris Martin, a claim which would be easy to prove and silly to lie about. The cynical jerk in me wants to believe this is true, but it's just as likely to be an underground band stretching the truth, looking to make a name for itself.

You took a risk dropping that in there but you're the mastermind of your craft and pulled it off with perfection. Making a good allusion is not a trivial pursuit so I appreciate you taking the trouble to do it.

I have (had is probably more accurate) an ancestor named Moses. Two in fact, Moses and his son Moses. No idea whether or not they were teased and beat up in the schoolyards of the early/mid 1800s on account of their monikers.
