IGT - Mets at Yankees - 6/27/08 (Game 1)
Gwreck Jun 27 2008 11:02 AM |
New York Mets
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:00 PM |
I'm blacked out, inexplicably.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:01 PM |
Mets wearing road grey uniforms...
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:06 PM |
First time since 1997. It truly is Dave Mlicki Day.
batmagadanleadoff Jun 27 2008 12:07 PM |
and blue socks!
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:09 PM |
Charlie Samuels says it's in honor of the last Mets game at Yankee Stadium.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:09 PM |
And Keith Hernandez agrees with me!
seawolf17 Jun 27 2008 12:10 PM |
Shouldn't the Mets have called up Jonathan Niese to pitch against Dan Giese? That would have been cool.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:15 PM |
Castillo: Walk, SB.
seawolf17 Jun 27 2008 12:16 PM |
I like this Wright kid. Gonna be a good player.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:16 PM |
I think operation run-on-Jorge is in effect.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:24 PM |
Pelfrey starts by fanning both Cabrera and Jeter.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:30 PM |
Then he does the improbable by walking Abreu.
We beat up on this guy, he can match up with Niese next week in the Eastern League.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:31 PM |
Rodriguez pops it up, but it falls between Beltran and Castillo.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:31 PM |
Credit that single to Castillo's knee?
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 12:33 PM |
A bunch of new gamecast features, although I could do without the little pictures as you roll over the fielders.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:35 PM |
Maybe. The effort was there, but the knee may have been the difference maker. Meanwhile, Giambi flares a broken bat single to left to tie the game.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 12:36 PM |
So, two bloops in a row? I don't like when lady luck wears pinstripes.
Gwreck Jun 27 2008 12:40 PM |
Gamecast is horrible. I wish they would go back to the 2006 (and earlier) version.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:43 PM |
Getting the number-seven guy on is interesting, now that we have a manager with American League experience. In the AL, you can bunt, steal, or hit-and-run here. Under NL rules, those are mostly all off the table.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:44 PM |
Thanks, Alex.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:44 PM |
Marlon Anderson goes first to third on an infield single.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 12:47 PM |
Even Omar's wearing a blue cap. (One with a blue, not orange, button on the crown.)
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 12:57 PM |
Wow, button free.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:06 PM |
Is Posada wearing a glove?
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:06 PM |
Another SB for Castillo. Wright batting with 0 out.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:09 PM |
TWO-RUN HOMER TO RIGHT FIELD FOR BELTRAN!
TransMonk Jun 27 2008 01:09 PM |
Yea for Carlos! KABOOM!
bmfc1 Jun 27 2008 01:10 PM |
Take that Michael Wilbon! YES!!!!!
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:10 PM |
B=orange]AK=orange]OO=orange]M!
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:11 PM |
Maybe I'm nuts, but I smell a back-to-back from Delgado.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:12 PM |
And Delgado strikes out.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:13 PM |
Gamecast watchers, Gameday has new features today also. Check it out.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 01:15 PM |
Just what the teams wanted on this 2-stadium DH day - 1 hour 10 minutes to play 2-1/2 innings.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:21 PM |
Rodriguez raps one past Reyes to score Jeter.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:25 PM |
Yankees get ANOTHER pop-fly single, this time from Posada.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 01:26 PM |
How many FUCKIN bloops are thesee assholes gonna get?
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:26 PM |
Hey, Carlos, if they hit it over your head, good for them. If they drop it in front of you, it's on you.
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 01:29 PM |
Another weak hit? Lucky MFY's.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 01:30 PM |
I know what this sounds like but I swear these dorks get more cheezy hits than any other team.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:31 PM |
Ron says this is happening because outfielders tend to play deeper in Yankee Stadium.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 01:44 PM |
I was just about to mention another MFY special - the grounder with less than two out and runners on that'll be hit too shitty for a GiDP ... and ARod does just that.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:51 PM |
Today's a day to grind it out, Big Pelf.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 01:53 PM |
Well he's already up over 80 pitches so we're talking about 5, maybe 6, innings at best.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 01:54 PM |
Run, Jose! Run like the wind!
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 01:55 PM |
Yanks have the bottom of the order up next inning. Pelf can get through that.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:55 PM |
Hah!
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:55 PM |
Pitchout addicts.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:55 PM |
And THEN Jose steals the base!
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 01:57 PM |
I hope we piss off Girardi enough that he straps on his old gear and puts himself in the game.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 01:58 PM |
Jose showing that it's not very hard to outsmart the MFYs.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 01:59 PM |
Walk, walk, sharp single by Wright.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:00 PM |
Bases loaded and the new coach holds Jose at third.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:02 PM |
Coulda been a DP, but it's a forceout.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:02 PM |
Not sure I'm cool with Beltran going after the first pitch, but we get a runner home.
seawolf17 Jun 27 2008 02:03 PM |
Holy schmoleys, Game Day is freaking me out. The 3D thing is neat.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:04 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 27 2008 02:06 PM |
This Ramirez guy is a change-up specialist who seems to be either real good or horrible in his outings.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:04 PM |
Okay, so I didn't smell a homer.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:05 PM |
Incoming pitch has been hit into play...
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:05 PM |
I'm thinking it'd really be nice to say goodbye to Yankee Stadium in style.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:05 PM |
Hugeness from Carlos II
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:05 PM |
Whenever Nixon steps to the plate, I find myself thinking he's Brian Schneider.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:06 PM |
Your nose is getting better, Ben. Hopefully, the Delgado homer is coming later today and you're just picking it up early.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:11 PM |
Inning ends with the Mets scoring three.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:12 PM |
Game day put up Beltran's FC. That screw up was all Jeter.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:14 PM |
With one out, a bad-hop single by Betamit.
86-Dreamer Jun 27 2008 02:15 PM |
why can't Marlon run to first on that slow roller? I'd like to see the gangsta sit him down for that.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:15 PM |
Oops, scratch that: It's an error on Castillo.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:16 PM |
The blue caps and the grey uniforms really do look good!
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:17 PM |
Capt. Intangibles never screws up. It must have been bad camera work by MLB.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:18 PM |
That would have been your quick inning except for the Castillo error.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:18 PM |
Let's wear the stirrups tonight.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:18 PM |
Yeah, so much for the easy inning. Now Jeter's up with two on and two out.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:24 PM |
And after a bunch of foul balls, Pelfrey gets Jeter to ground easily to Delgado.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:24 PM |
But ... but ... but ... Jeter ALWAYS comes through against the Mets!
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 02:24 PM |
Great job by Pelfrey. I know it's a double-header, but I think I would tell him to hit the showers if I were Jerry.
attgig Jun 27 2008 02:25 PM |
pounding the zone with fastball after fastball. Great job Pelfrey.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:27 PM |
Quick- who's having a better year at the plate, Jeter or Castillo?
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:30 PM |
Me too. But if the Mets score three or four runs in the 6th, I might be tempted to squeeze another inning out of Pelfrey. But with a two-run lead, I'd be inclined to go to the pen.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:32 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 27 2008 02:33 PM |
Castillo with a chance to atone for his error last inning.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:32 PM |
Buncha leftys coming up next inning too - starting with Abreu leading off.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:35 PM |
Jeter would have turned that double play if not for the field conditions at Shea.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:37 PM |
I like the Yankees going to their pen to summon a guy with a 5.35 ERA here. Hopefully, Wright will burn him.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:39 PM |
Jeter .286/.345/.394/ 99 OPS+/ 3.5 WARP3/ 7 WS
attgig Jun 27 2008 02:39 PM |
singles machine
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:39 PM |
Wright delivers the RBI single. Now knock this chump out Carlos.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:40 PM |
D-dubs!
attgig Jun 27 2008 02:41 PM |
let's see it delgado. redeem right here.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:42 PM |
C'mon Hootie!
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:44 PM |
WHO HAS THE NOSE?
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |
And mad props to Rockin' Doc, too!
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |

AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |

Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |

attgig Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |

Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |
I'm tempted to squeeze another inning out of Pelfrey.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:45 PM |
You were all over it, Grimm. I told you that you were just picking up the scent a little early.
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 02:46 PM |
Wow. BG, I'd like to hire you as my financial advisor.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:46 PM |
Grimm ain't nuthin but a hound dog.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 02:46 PM |
Cool, jerkweed on the field.
Rockin' Doc Jun 27 2008 02:47 PM |
Lunch break is about over, but now I can go back to classes contented.
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 02:47 PM |
Delgado hit it so far the ball left GameCast.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 02:49 PM |
It gave me a warm 2006 feeling.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:49 PM |
Lety/Righty/Lefty/Switch coming up, Pelf still in?
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:49 PM |
Now we just have to take care of finishing this game prior to the starting time of the night one.
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 02:51 PM |
This just in, umps are ruling Delgado's Grand Slam a groundout to second base. Still 7-4 Mets.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:52 PM |
Feliciano? Hmmm... I kinda like it.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:52 PM |
Hey, Feliciano got out the leadoff hitter.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 02:53 PM |
Yankee Fans:
themetfairy Jun 27 2008 02:54 PM |
Shhh - don't give them any ideas!
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 02:54 PM |
Somewhere a Yanqui fans is muttering about another ARod HR in a blowout rather than when it's REALLY needed.
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 02:57 PM |
Ok. No more errors.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 03:20 PM |
Good lord, Delgado's shot was a BOMB. Fuck you, Jobu; he'll do it himself.
SteveJRogers Jun 27 2008 03:23 PM |
Hey Mets, save some runs for tonight at Shea when I'm in the park!
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jun 27 2008 03:25 PM |
Pile it on, guys! First sweep at Mother Fucking Yankee Stadium! Now burn that dump to the ground!
SteveJRogers Jun 27 2008 03:25 PM |
HA! Or try an entire segment of the Internet Yankee Fan Community!
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 03:29 PM |
We're not worthy ... we're not worthy ... we're not worthy
Methead Jun 27 2008 03:29 PM |
Oh my.
KC Jun 27 2008 03:29 PM |
Holy crap.
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 03:29 PM |
Now Delgado gets a THREE-run homer!
smg58 Jun 27 2008 03:29 PM |
Where the hell has this been the past two years?
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 03:31 PM |
First Met ever to drive in 9 runs in a game. Breaks a 32-year-old record held by Dave Kingman.
smg58 Jun 27 2008 03:31 PM |
I hope he gets cheered at Shea tonight.
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 03:32 PM |
The funniest anti-ARod comment I ever heard (at least from a fan of HIS team) was a MFY fan bitching about how Of Course! his 3 HRs against Bartolo Colon and the Angels (including a GS I think) came in a 10-2 blowout. Hey dummy, who do you think MADE IT a blowout?!?
themetfairy Jun 27 2008 03:32 PM |
I hereby dub this game The Carlos Delgado Game and pronounce it an Instant Mets Classic!
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 03:33 PM |
Frayed Knot Jun 27 2008 03:35 PM |
This isn't a game anymore ... it's hard-core PORN!
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 03:38 PM |
Of course he will be. Unless he makes an out at some point tonight, then he will be rightfully showered with boos.
TheOldMole Jun 27 2008 03:52 PM |
Who's Phillips?
Valadius Jun 27 2008 04:00 PM |
I had to come out of hibernation to say...
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 04:06 PM |
Why haven't they cut him yet???
Centerfield Jun 27 2008 04:07 PM |
He had 10 in the month of June before today.
Zvon Jun 27 2008 04:29 PM |
9 RBI's!!!
Benjamin Grimm Jun 27 2008 04:37 PM |
I want to see blue caps in EVERY road game from here on in.
AG/DC Jun 27 2008 05:06 PM |
Home also.
