Can't find a lineup, maybe the buses are stuck in traffic.

I'm jazzed. Put up another 15 spot, guys.

Scoreless after half an inning.

Nixon and Castro lead off the 2nd with singles.

KC
Jun 27 2008 06:43 PM

Stranding three with no outs generally ain't a good recipe for a win.

Zvon
Jun 27 2008 06:43 PM

Damn.
Had bases loaded no out.
Even w/Pedro one of the batters there, we should have plated a run.

Well, datsAbaseball.

KC
Jun 27 2008 06:46 PM

No, dats not baseball.

I'd love to see the Reyes at bat again, attack the ball or grab some pine. Some-
times he looks like a mope.

That was a very weak at bat.
Was that 1st pitch swinging at shit?
I think it was.

I like what Delgado tried to do on that pop up bunt and I'm relieved it didn't come back to bite us.

Church is 0 for 3 w/2 K's for the Cyclones tonight. Pedro is also pitching in Brooklyn.

Ouch.
Bases skanked no out.

This is gonna be a tuff one to get out of.

But lets do it Pedro.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jun 27 2008 07:19 PM

Woof, that was an ugly looking play.

Cano could not have hit a better slow, weak grounder for the RBI ground out.

He got two grounders in a row, can't do much more than that.

Zvon

OH! Another slow weak grounder.

Wright concedes the run going for the DP.
He don't get it.
Hmmmm.
Had him at home.

I'll take the over. They're really close to a big inning off this tubby mess of a ballplayer. (My fiancee says he looks like the guy from Smashmouth.)

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jun 27 2008 07:28 PM

A patented Jeter-can't-get-there single up the middle.

Esp on a wide screen TV.
He's wider than the Babe himself.
Maybe wider than Eric Gregg during his wider days.

AG/DC
Jun 27 2008 07:33 PM

I'll never buy into taking a pitch if the guy is running.

If you like the pitch, have at it. He'll be on second by the time you swing.

And taking to the point where you step out to give the catcher room to work... come on.

Vince Coleman Firecracker
Jun 27 2008 07:41 PM

Keith, on the Yankees' lineup: "It's obviously not as good as it used to be, back in their heyday."

Umm, they scored 80 runs more than anyone else last year.

Zvon
Jun 27 2008 07:41 PM

DON'T walk Jeter!

Gah, he walks him.

That weak single that Pedro didn't cover for,...as a second baseman I would have dove and snatched that out of the air. Even as Delgado was jumping, I would have been going into my dive.

I wonder on plays like that, a deep, obvious foul ball with a runner on 3rd, if you'd be better letting it fall?

Zvon
Jun 27 2008 07:51 PM

Giambi didn't want to walk from what I saw him swingin at, yet Martinez walks him.

Nice catch by Nixon but it allows them to plate another.

Well, we are gonna score more than 4 runs anyways,

That wasn't all that foul from the running fielders perspective.
He was just crossing the line.
In this case I agree with the booth. get the out.

Now if he was at the stands waiting for it to come down, thats another situation.

Odd seeing O.P. warming up in the pen. I wonder if they intend on calling up Armas or someone to start Sunday's tilt instead of Ollie.

But as a Mets fan you have to hope that the MFYs are putting Igawa in (also warming up). He stinks out loud.

He was missing bats. Just got killed by the walks, a few miscues in the infield and hung that one slider to Jeter after, like 100 pitches.
I'm encouraged.

I hate how the Mets invariably cough up at least one Yankee game to some sack of shit pitcher making his first appearance (Tyler Fuckyouasshole Clippard, Dwight Whatthefuck Gooden or Sidney Suckme Ponson).

Grrrrrr. And after they had all the mo.

Gwreck

There was nothing redeeming whatsoever about this game.

I can hardly remember more painful Shea Stadium experience that didn't involve playoff implications.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Oh, and not to put anything past him, but Pedro pretty much sucks.

AG/DC
Jun 28 2008 06:06 AM

You ever lose a game by that much and think about the break here and there that could have turned it around? It's like had the bases loaded the entire first half of the game,

Pedro's not pissing me off (except when he fails to cover first) nearly as much as the hitters not plating the runs. You give a pitcher nothing to work with, givng up two and giving up six is all the same. In fact, I think they're more vulnerable to big innings because they try to be too perfect with men on base, and dig themselves in deeper.

Yup!
Two early ABs in particular: Reyes's pop-up (bad AB) and Castro's GiDP (good AB - bad result).
Also, to continue my on-line rant from the first game (and my years-long rant in private), while
we were not getting it done in those ABs the Skanks were hitting balls TOO SHITTY to make
outs or turn DPs.
Obviously that changed later on as they started to get some real hits but the number of
bad-swing/good result ABs that team gets has got to lead the planet.
I know that's probably irrational but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

SteveJRogers

The only thing enjoyable about that was hanging with a couple of my coworkers in various places around the place.
