Rain delay - probably short-lived.
Looks like we'll get the Chicago-v-Chicago tilt on TV until then.

Frayed Knot
Jun 28 2008 02:12 PM

And just in case you're trying to keep track of the Yanqui moves since the end of game 1 yesterday

- Hidecki Matsui DL'd -- Sydney Ponson called up

- Ross Ohlendorf sent down -- (off)Kei Igawa called up

- and today it (off)Kei Igawa sent back down (how's that $46mil investment going?) and David Robertson brought up.
Robertson is a RH reliever who was a middle-round draft pick from 2 years ago.

Jun 28 2008 02:30 PM

Nice 1st for Santana.

Jeter is batting .382 vs. the Mets?
Maybe we should go get that kid....make him a second baseman or something.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 02:37 PM

Easley and Wright draw walks.

Come on Beltran.

Jun 28 2008 02:41 PM

Nothing. A wasted opportunity.

Scoreless after one.

Jun 28 2008 02:45 PM

When Church returns, who goes? Nixon is another lefty OF so he seems redundant but I like how hard he plays.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 02:47 PM

WooT!

Santana Ks the side in the second.

Zvon

Less walks please....

Frayed Knot

Once again another NYY grounder hit too shitty to be turned into a GiDP.
I've seen this movie before.

Frayed Knot
Jun 28 2008 03:32 PM

And they FUCKIN DO IT AGAIN!!!!!

That's 3 IF grounders that resulted in two hits plus a non-DP.
And it's only the 4th inning!!!!!

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 03:37 PM

Skanks are small ballin for the runs.
The RBI groundout up the middle made me gah! to myself.

The dribbly single off Canos bat just made me GAH! out loud.
But it doesn't factor in the scoring.

Two walks to start the inning and both score.
Walks kill.

The radio here is a good five seconds ahead of the tv.

Jun 28 2008 03:40 PM

Say it with me: Shea infield.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 03:41 PM

GAH!
How could they call that error by Jeter a hit!
I was about to type errors kill too!

AG/DC
Jun 28 2008 03:41 PM

We needed the infield to help there.

It usually is. But since I seem to be in the small minority of fans who aren't bothered by Buck/McCarver I'm listening to the TV feed.

I can't believe they scored Tatis's bouncer a hit.

KC
Jun 28 2008 03:43 PM

You know me well, that was code for, "I think McCarver is an assbag."

Zvon

Usually Pettitte has to balk to get his pick offs.
Reyes just made that one easy for him.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 04:01 PM

HOW can Jose get picked off there with Wright up?
HOW CAN HE LET THAT HAPPEN?!

Frayed Knot
Jun 28 2008 04:04 PM

Hey, Johan just got a call.

According to my local weather channel it's gonna start pouring in Queens in the next 20 minutes.
Won't last long.

AG/DC
Jun 28 2008 04:05 PM

Shouldn't Robinson Cano be one of the Mets' backup catchers?

KC
Jun 28 2008 04:11 PM

Z: >>>HOW CAN HE LET THAT HAPPEN?!<<<

He's never gonna be as good as he could be if he doesn't improve his
common sense skills. He's young, but c'mon he's been around too long
be pulling dumb stuff like that.

KC
Jun 28 2008 04:14 PM

I'll add, acknowledging that I'm growing cranky, that if he spent as much
time thinking about what he does wrong and how to improve -- instead of
inventing new hand shakes and choreographing them with teammates --
then he and we would all be in better shape.

Another dominanting performance by the best pitcher in baseball.

I agree and its just sooooo annoying to see this kind of stuff continue to happen with him.
And no one can be blamed but him.
If he doesn't know a simple thing that we all at home know, not to stray to far off the bag in that situation.....it boggles my mind.

And the Skanks plate another.

3-1 and pouring.

Zvon

It's time Reyes grew up. The enthusiasm is wonderful and we want it but that doesn't mean that you should have the baseball instincts of a 12 year old.

Why are the umps sitting in the Yankee dugout yuckin' it up with Girardi?

Sounds like collusion to me.

Your absolutely right bmfc1.
I love the child like fervor, but the playing like a distracted child has got to stop.

Just realized that this shot can never be replicated due to Cit Field's open area not facing a spacious parking lot (assuming the Iron Triangle battle continues to lag on).

Nice way to re-start.

3-2

We are still in this despite the gloomy way we are feeling.
We've pumped up the Mets before.
Now its their turn to pump us up.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 05:26 PM

Feliciano holds em in the 7th and looks real good doin it.
That pumps me up.
A lil bit,...lil bit.><

Come on...show why we stock bats in the dugout!

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 05:34 PM

Redeem thyself Reyes!

First pitch pop out..GAH!

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 05:47 PM

And a nice inning from Sanchez despite a Wright throwing error.

Lets get goin guys.

Unite, assemble, allAdat.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 05:57 PM

Beltran Ks for the fourth time today.
Not good.

And he's seen some hit-able pitches.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 06:07 PM

One more chance.
Mets vs. Rivera.

Delgado.

cooby
Jun 28 2008 06:08 PM

You are doing a nice job, Zvon!

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 06:15 PM

UGH.
Delgado strikes out swingin at shit and Nixon watches one right down the middle, fat as Ponson, for the games final pitch.

bmfc1
Jun 28 2008 06:16 PM

MetsGuyInMichigan's losing streak continues.

Church was ready but the genius that runs the team didn't activate him today b/c a lefty was starting... as a result, Tatis batted in the 9th instead of Church coming in as a PH. Oh yeah, Andy Phillips was available. Great, great moves Omar. Why doesn't he sign Shawn Chacon and any other piece of crap that has been released this week?

Thank you but its no consolation.
If you are being sarcastic, I refuse to take responsibility for this loss. ;)

Reyes, with your great powers comes great responsibility and you sir, are no Spiderman.

bmfc1
Jun 28 2008 06:21 PM

"Does the b stand for bile?"

And it stands for Joe Buck as in "SHUT UP JOE BUCK!" which is what I said out loud in the 9th as he rattled off the Mets lousy stats.

KC
Jun 28 2008 06:22 PM

That pair is tough to listen to, especially when your team is losing , or if your
team isn't the Yankees or Cardinals.

Zvon
Jun 28 2008 06:33 PM

Phils are already down 2-0 to the Rangers, and I will take consolation in that, for the time being.
The Marlins tied 1-1 vs. the D'backs.

Im gonna remain my optimistic self, but this week coming up...

Tomorrows game, 4 vs. Cards, culminating with the four game Phils series..
this is the time we do or die I think.
Have to be within striking range when we do get to the Phils.

Phils just tied it. GAH!
Took the lead on a WP.
GAHHHHH!!!

Zvon always does a great job. IGTs are richer for his presence when he's around.

Jun 28 2008 08:29 PM

Frustrating game. We can bemoan the MFYs luck with struck balls but Santana can't be walking the first two. Awful game for Reyes. I'd have almost preferred Anderson made an out in the 7th to let Reyes start the 8th. I know that sounds stupid.

AG/DC
Jun 28 2008 08:47 PM

That's what we're reduced to --- irrational hopes.

The offense has been undermining itself for a while now. My favorite is when a guy gets wild, walks a pair, and then some Met swings at the first pitch and pops up.

I want another crack at Ponson even more than Dickey. What did he do to deserve a shutout?

Sigh.

There was much glory and several adventures.

But, damn. They gotta win for me sometime!

I'm going to see them again in Cincy on July 19. Fingers crossed...
