The bottom 5 of that MFY lineup indicates we oughta win this one.

Frayed Knot
Jun 29 2008 10:53 AM

This is the TBS game of the week for you non-NYers

Girardi loading up on the righties against Ollie - Abreu, Cano & Giambi are sitting with Damon as the only LH starter.
Gives them a lot of bench for later on.

Be nice to smack Rasner around and make all that meaningless

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:11 AM

Im hoping for a "GAH!" free game.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:14 AM

Pinstripes with black caps?
FIRE THE GUY WHO DRESSES EM!

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:24 AM

Man, Wrights just missing quite a few this series.
Another to the wall.

Lets get Reyes home.

bmfc1
Jun 29 2008 11:29 AM

Boy does Castillo suck. Good thing this is his walk year. Oh yeah.

bmfc1
Jun 29 2008 11:30 AM

Meanwhile, Moron Chip Carey, spawn of Moron Skip Carey, is doing play-by-play for TBS. He called the pitching mound "the bump." What, there aren't enough cliches and slang terms in baseball, he has to make up his own?

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:30 AM

Another wasted opportunity.

Lowlight: Castillo looking for a ball and gets rung up on a pitch off the outside corner.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:36 AM

Wow.
I know this is Perez and this could change at any time, but he is throwing some excellent pitches these first two innings.
Im talkin WICKED.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:44 AM

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:53 AM

YEA!

Castillo slaps one home.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 11:55 AM

Guess I'll take the one run.
Better than none.

1-0 Mets after two.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 12:06 PM

Wow.
Perez with 5 Ks thru 3.

I'd have to say the little changes to his windup have made a difference.
*crosses fingers

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 12:09 PM

DELGADO!

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 12:18 PM

lol.
Delgado's shot broke the scoreboard.

2-0 Mets after 3 complete.

themetfairy
Jun 29 2008 12:21 PM

So much for the perfecto :(

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 12:22 PM

Jeter gets the Skanks first hit.
Most GAH! worthy.

GAH!

classic showdown vs gayrod here.

That was!
YEA!

Once Perez got focused there, from the stretch, he went bulldog on A-Rod.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 12:56 PM

I've been up in that scoreboard Gary, and as far as I know that ladder is the only way up. Course this was way before they had that skyline up there.

SteveJRogers
Jun 29 2008 01:08 PM

That works.

Not watching the action, how is the rain at this point?

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:08 PM

Interesting advice from Warthen to Perez in regards to his release point.
Because trying to be conscious of that during your delivery must be distracting.

Perez getting slapped around a lil bit here in the 6th.
Lil bit.

He gets Jeter to hit into the force to end the 6th and its 2-0 Mets.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jun 29 2008 01:09 PM

We let Rasner off way too easy.

Cool. so game should get played in full.

We need to win this one just so bmfc1 doesn't fly into full-fledged rant mode.

The Mets need to get this one so I don't have to deal with my co-workers tommorow!

Yeesh. Was yesterday's rant that memorable?

Frayed Knot
Jun 29 2008 01:16 PM

Nah, just reacting to your early game comments in this one.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:17 PM

What a difference a day makes in regards to Reyes.
Good at bats, couple-a hits, a walk.

Castillo singles him to second.
Lets see what he does here, with Wright up.

Don't even....

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:18 PM

haHAha.

Wild pitch negates all concern.

Frayed Knot
Jun 29 2008 01:19 PM

btw, that cheezy infield single we got from Luis for the first run means that now we're only trailing in that category about 9 to 1 this weekend.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:19 PM

Nice!
Wright lifts one to right for the sac fly.
DatsAbaseball.

bmfc1
Jun 29 2008 01:19 PM

Hi Steve--insulting a member of the Carey family is an automatic reaction for me. And Castillo's lengthy contract is an easy target.

I thought yesterday's post-game rant was pretty mean: "Church was ready but the genius that runs the team didn't activate him today b/c a lefty was starting... as a result, Tatis batted in the 9th instead of Church coming in as a PH. Oh yeah, Andy Phillips was available. Great, great moves Omar. Why doesn't he sign Shawn Chacon and any other piece of crap that has been released this week?"

For 10 hits, we should have more than 3 runs at this point.

Perez's 100th pitch of the day gets CRUSHED by Betemit.

3-1

I see two errors on that play, lol.

Do NOT let this run score!!!

Frayed Knot

No further damage - but those little shenanigans means they'll get the middle of the order up again in the 9th.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:36 PM

Whew.

Nice outing Oliver.
Enjoyed watching you pitch,
really enjoyed watching you bat cuz your funny at the plate.
Brings the same intensity to the plate.

On TBS, the "Viagra Moment That Changed the Game" was Game 5, 2000 WS. Ugh.

Delgado - Church - Chavez

Yanx are bringing in their LH reliever ... oh wait, they don't have one!!

Just mocking how obscure this fellow appears to be. That MLB hasn't grabbed him and got a head shot of him.

Well he's been in the major leagues for all of 20 minutes

12 hits, 3 runs.

They take photos of everyone on a 40 man roster, see the 25 man roster thread here.

Zvon
Jun 29 2008 01:44 PM

Not only is Church back, but hitting the ball like he hasn't missed a beat.
Has hit it hard 3 of his 4 times up, for 2 hits.
And one of those two hits was the one time he didn't hit it hard.

Nice to see him return.

1) That you know that scares me
2) He wasn't on the 40-man until yesterday

If nothing else I like our OF defense as it is now.

Billy vs Jeter, ARod, Posada in the 9th.

Ummm, how 'bout around 6 runs before we get there?

How about some insurance?

Frayed Knot
Jun 29 2008 01:58 PM

I guess Manual preferred a lefty PH against one of the Yanqui RH relievers instead of Tatis so no double-switch ... although I suspect if Willie did the same he'd get criticized for not knowing HOW.

First time since 2004.

Not that its much consolation considering the season so far.

Yea for us! The Mets with the only home win in the six games.

G-Fafif saw a good one today. Too bad MGIM wasn't there.

Jun 29 2008 03:48 PM

I hereby dedicate the final win by the Mets over the MFYs in the history of Shea Stadium to Mets Guy in Michigan who was in my thoughts when Billy closed the deal. Through the good graces of Met Fairy, I was at the game with a fairly magical group: my wife getting her first SS game; my friend Richie who was with me for Matt Franco; and my friend Rob who had an MGIM problem dating back to 1998 where Mets-MFYs games were concerned. He and I saw them lose the first one (Rojas v. O'Neill), saw them lose at MFYS II in 2000 (13-5), he saw them lose yesterday and there were probably some others in between. It was good to watch the monkey crumble off his back.

For Rob, for Dave (MGIM), for all of us. Good job Metsies.

Bright side of course IS that the Phillies aren't running away with the division, so a great showing this weekend and the Metsies should be in business headed towards the AS break.

I'm kinda dissatisfied myself. Four games against the MFYs; in three of them we face Geise, Ponson and Rasner; and in the fourth we face Pettitte but oppose him with Johan F. Santana. Jeez, we coulda had all 4.

(John Sterling) Well Suzyn, that's baseball! As soon as somebody tells you they have it all figured out, they don't! Thuh-uhhhhh pitch... (/John Sterling)
