I think I was saying something about a "Murphy's Law" season earlier?
Wellemeyer retires ONE batter gets out of the inning unscathed.

Meanwhile, Reyes's SB pct = barely adequate
28 of 37 ~ 75% and when you add in the pickoffs it's worse still

Reyes gets caught stealing after a leadoff single by F. Molina.

FWIW, Tony Armas Jr. does have an MLB.com pic for his profile. So there!

Just reading that now on GameDay, wow!

Yeah it was an "everything that can go wrong..." type of inning for the Mets!

SteveJRogers
Jul 01 2008 06:31 PM

Ankiel with a 2 run homer (Aaron Miles had a one out double).

Making that hard luck top of the first even MORE hard luck for the Metsies!

Glaus with a basehit. This is not looking good.

BTW, is it true that the Mets have not come from behind from 3 runs down all year? That can't be right, can it?

Tremendous, unrelenting suck

SteveJRogers
Jul 01 2008 06:42 PM

Time to get those runs back!

SteveJRogers
Jul 01 2008 06:43 PM

Thats one. A start.

The only team to run itself out of more runs tonight is the frickin Rangers who let Joba the Hut off the hook big time with some real dumbth.

We needed Tony Armas Sr. there.

SteveJRogers
Jul 01 2008 06:45 PM

Ehhhh. We got on the board at least. Now if Armas can SETTLE DOWN, maybe a lead can be had!

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 01 2008 06:55 PM

I think we need Tony Armas III.

Easley saves a run with a nice pickup on a hard grounder. On to the top of the inning...

The Cardinal broadcasters and Aflac asks, "Who were the principles in the last trade between the Cards and the Mets?"

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Jesse Orosco and Joe McEwing?

Jul 01 2008 07:43 PM

No Zvon tonight? I hope he hasn't given up!

He costs a run perhaps, by chasing crap out of the strike zone offered up by a pitcher who has nothing.

Castro gets some measure of makeup.

I sign on, Wright homers!

7-3 in the sixth.

David Wright: pretty good for a bad season.

KC
Jul 01 2008 08:02 PM

Lotta season left. I wanna leave St. Louis with three under the belt.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

Needs a triple in his next turn.

Trivia answer is Wilson Delgado and Roger Cedeno?

We need to buy Keith and Gary a map. I remember this same geography problem from either last year or '06.

Keith: "Well, Missouri, I think it's the only state that is surrounded by 8 other states..."
Gary: "I think it's 11..."

Gwreck: "Jeez. Both Missouri and Tennessee are bordered by 8 states each."

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 01 2008 08:13 PM

I was trying to imagine the 11 states surrounding Missouri.

Throw Chris Widger in there, but yeah, judges say you get a beer.

This is the O I was anticipating arriving last night.

I hope Cougar didn't go out for a run.

Shit - Duaner looks hurt!

themetfairy
Jul 01 2008 08:43 PM

OK - after taking Molina's ball to the knee, Duaner leaves the field under his own power. Whew!

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 01 2008 08:43 PM

Yadier Molina is already going to hell, I dunno how this makes it worse.

Duaner = OK.

Frayed Knot
Jul 01 2008 08:44 PM

Duaner looks completely different without the cap and glasses.
Not sure I've seen him that way before.

Ya gotta like Brian Barton as a bench player just because it's cool to have a dreadlocked aeronautical engineer on your squad.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 01 2008 08:55 PM

Yay Mets.

Gwreck
Jul 01 2008 08:55 PM

Put it in the books.

And a drama-free 9th from Billy boy!!
