ESPN.com is having a "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" contest, where the winner gets to marry "the bachelorette" or something. You can vote here (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/notebook?page=bbtn/takemeout), and the nominees include Branford Marsalis, resplendent in his bright blue Mets cap.

Wow, the phrase "popular musical artists" gets applied to REO. I bet they're blushing.

Well, it described them at one time. It described them a lot more than it describes half the artists on the list.

I'm enjoying watching these, thanks. Here are my rankings

1. Punch Brothers
--Guitar player looks like John Maine

2. Ozomatli
--Loses points for having guys wearing flat-brimmed caps but still pretty good.

3. Branford Marsalis
--Nice hat

4. Lloyd
--Not my thing but nice job. Wasn't he a TriLam?

5. Gretchen Wilson
--Being a chick who likes baseball only gets you so far

6. John Pizzarelli
--Let's live for the wonder of it all

7. Gammo
--Um

8. REO Shitwagon
--Heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from another that they still suck

9. Candlebox
--should be set on fire

10. Cab
--Who? They weren't even trying

Done, with my rankings:

1. Ozomatli -- They took it and made it their own; they did their thing, dog.
2. Branford Marsalis -- Gets a hat bump.
3. Punch Brothers -- Classic, old skool version, but "root for the Cubbies..." eh. Harry Caray they're not.
4. Candlebox -- Not bad, actually. I likes me the rock n roll.
5. Gretchen Wilson -- I enjoyed that she rocked it out a bit.
6. Lloyd -- Bleh.
7. John Pizzarelli -- Bleh.
8. Gammo -- Not bad, but jeez, he looks old. Aneurysms will do that to you, eh?
9. Cab -- Do they have naked pictures of Stuart Scott? How did they get in this?
10. REO Speedwagon -- Awful.

The thing about Ozamati is there's not much talent there but the spirit is willing. They bring it like a High-A League version of Los Lobos.

Those were my thoughts exactly.

The wonder of it all is you don't hear that Foxwoods jingle on Metscasts anymore. Haven't missed it one bit. But I do like Pizzarelli and his version of TMOTTBG.

I can't remember how it goes. Never thought that would happen.

Apparently, two drunk people. Or perhaps fellow brain damage sufferers.
