You're to be stranded on a desert island. Which of the following Boz Scaggs songs will accompany you?

We're All Alone

It's Over

Lowdown

Lido Shuffle

What Can I Say

JoJo

Heart of Mine

We had a local deli-supermarket called "Guido's" that I made my mom shop for milk at, because they had Dairylea. When "Lido" would come on the radio, my siblings would break into a chorus of

Guido's!
Sells Dai-ry-lea!
One more quart and a ticket!
One more quart and a ticket!
I heard the other ones out, but they didn't stand much of a chance.

I was thinking "We're All Alone" might hold some promise for the hopeless romantics out there; and "Lowdown" for the cool jazz contingent.

And "What Can I Say" is a leading contender for best-sounding opening song on a classic rock-pop-jazz crossover fusion album of the 1970s. The first 5 songs in the poll, plus a few contenders I didn't include, all from the "Silk Degrees" record.

Lido all the way.

I love Silk Degrees. It's one of very few albums that I've owned on vinyl, cassette and CD.

Hits! from 1980 is one of the few albums I still have on vinyl, cassette and CD.

I need to have a yard sale.

Boz Scaggs?!? Dear God, you're all my dad.

It is true we all had sex with your mom.

I mean that in a joking manner of course.

I'd rather listen to seagulls screech than listen to Boz Scaggs.

I used to like the early Boz Scaggs back when he was in the Steve Miller Band and then one or two albums he did with, I think, Duane Allman on them. When Silk Degrees came out and before I heard it, there was a buzz about him and I thought finally people are paying attention to this really good guy. Then I heard it and hated it. Since then I guess Lido and Lowdown are ok but no way are they making it onto my island.

Side question: Who would win a knife fight between Lido and JoJo? You know they're both packing.

This exercise isn't supposed to be about your favorite artists. It's supposed to be hard, like the Mets scoring a run.

Yeah, I sure didn't.

I vote other, as in "Harbor Lights"

I have to admit that I always liked Lowdown and Lido Shuffle growing up. Hell, I still enjoy them from time to time. I think there are some good memories of times low gone by tied up in those songs.

I gave the nod to Lido.

The original Flock of Seagulls poll was the best.

You think that's old?
When I read the thread title, I first thought of Bobby Darin ("Beyond the Sea").

He's right, we're old. I learned to do the Hustle to "Lowdown".

And we did it all the time in Gregg shorthand class, another outdated relic

When I'm shopping for sunglasses, or waiting for my phlebotomist or wherever you hear that kind of music, I can never distinguish whether I'm listening to "Lowdown" or "I Wanna Kiss You All Over."

It's that subgenre of seventies jazz-disco crossover ballads with a rock presentation.

You should recognize "Lowdown" for having better musicians and better vocals than "I Wanna Kiss You All Over (And Over Again)"

Lowdown. Cool bass pulls you in.

Also in that category: Pablo Cruise's "Whatcha Gonna Do."
