Here's a more accessible past-time.

Unquestionably fun. Among my friends, I am the reigning mini golf champ. (Of course, we haven't played the summer-long tournament since 1995. But that's a technicality.)

If I could make a living doing it, I'd design whacked out miniture golf courses.

I propose a CPF minigolf tournament

I think you're thinking of croquet.

In the south, it's called Putt Putt and I love it.

I called it Putt Putt as a kid. That was the name of a place we'd go to. I think it was in Bay Shore, on Long Island.

I'm in, too. It has for some time been a feature of all family vacations (except when we go to places like Rome).

I wonder if they have miniature golf in Rome? I don't recall seeing any!

Fun :)

I have to confess, I'm one of the two who voted "eh."

It's a fun thing to do with the kids, but I don't think I'd do it without them.

Soupcan's neighbor has the perfect yard for this.

its ok, better than boring "real" golf.

It's something to do when on vacation with the family, but I don't actively seek it out.

They say you should never mix business with pleasure- really? Well then explain to me how a putt putt golf company operates...

What, no Bocce?
And mini golf kicks ass. Especially the courses that have creeks and hills and the loop-the-loop.

seawolf17
Jul 02 2008 11:12 AM

You can replace badminton with bocce, actually, since then none of them really take any effort. You could theoretically sweat playing badminton.

AG/DC

You can do a lot of sweating playing badminton. Good players are living in their own time and space, not un-like Chinese pingpongers.

seawolf17
Jul 02 2008 11:31 AM

Which is why bocce fits in the First Annual CPF Pentathlon much better.

43 on the first try. I mastered that course years ago. I must've been trying to get fired.

soupcan
Jul 02 2008 12:07 PM

Yeah - I think I got as low as a 21 years back.

39 this time.

Benjamin Grimm
Jul 02 2008 12:51 PM

I got an 88!

The 8th and the 18th holes were nightmarish, but the 14th destroyed me!

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 02 2008 01:14 PM

I got impatient at the end and hit a 52

seawolf17
Jul 02 2008 01:35 PM

39. And I'm pissed at the windmill hole, which was a 4.

Vic Sage
Jul 02 2008 02:37 PM

yeah, 52 for me, too. alot of 1s and 2s, and then a few 6s and 8s.
fucking windmill.

Kong76
Jul 02 2008 03:03 PM

70. i had a 9 and an 8 in there that kicked my ass
it counted 3 of my hole in 1's as a 2!

Frayed Knot
Jul 02 2008 04:26 PM

47

Took me a while to figure out what those shaded sections were (uphills and downhills apparently)

Frayed Knot
Jul 02 2008 05:02 PM

2nd try: 6 aces, 6 twos, 3 threes ... plus a 10, 8 & 5 for a freakin 50
All those disasters came in the last 5 holes.

soupcan
Jul 02 2008 05:08 PM

You guys suck.

Nymr83
Jul 02 2008 07:01 PM

51 on the retry, the damn 18th hole took me 8 again

Rockin' Doc
Jul 02 2008 07:50 PM

I had a freakin' 52 with a 7 on #4 and a damn 11 on # 8.

Frayed Knot
Jul 02 2008 09:04 PM

So I gave it one more try.
Had a 35 strokes thru 17 ... and then needed 17 more on #18 and finished with a 52.

Gwreck
Jul 02 2008 11:24 PM

54, triple bogey on holes #15 and 18 killed me.

I am sure I could get my score down to the 30s or lower within 45 minutes, though.
