Carp.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 05:17 PM |
Werth batting lead-off.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 05:26 PM |
Santana gets out of is despite a boot by Delgado that could have cost the Mets a run.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 05:32 PM |
Mets have the black road jerseys on and, correct me if I'm wrong, caps that are not black, but a real dark shade of blue.
TransMonk Jul 04 2008 05:33 PM |
According to the Phillies broadcast, Happ is from the Peru/Spring Valley area of Illinois, which is where my maternal grandparents lived while I was growing up.
TransMonk Jul 04 2008 05:34 PM |
Also according to the Phils broadcast, the caps are part of Fred Wilpon's idea to raise money for returning veterans.
TransMonk Jul 04 2008 05:34 PM |
I would love a dominant outing by Santana.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 05:41 PM |
lol.

The "Stars and Stripes" cap for today's games (and the games on 9/11):

Then I'll have to give a tip of my cap to Mr. Wilpon.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 05:45 PM |
Wow. Awsum cap!

Thats interesting.

Tough spot- pitcher up, bases loaded. Do you root for the strikeout or hope for the seeing eye ground ball?

Canada Day is on 7/1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Day

Bases loaded, one out for Reyes.

The first of July being, of course, the day Canadians stood up valiantly and politely asked Britain for permission to secede, if it wouldn't be too much trouble.

Did you see the one pitch he swung at way up high? lol That spastic half swing he took? In those situations I just cross my fingers and pray. Mets score as Reyes beats out the DP grounder!
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 06:15 PM |
Reyes hits a weak grounder, but avoids the DP and drives in a run.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:16 PM |
Let's go Davey- bust this open.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 06:18 PM |
Ty for the info bmfc1.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:20 PM |
I'll take it. C'mon Carlos- show 'em what a day off can do.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 06:20 PM |
YES!
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 06:21 PM |
Considering that Wright started out with an 0-2 count, I'm thankful for the RBI walk.
bmfc1 Jul 04 2008 06:21 PM |
Glad to, ZVON.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:21 PM |

And Happ gets a... standing O? Really?
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 06:26 PM |
Deanna Durbin gets Beltran to swing at ball 4 to end the inning. 2-0 Mets at the halfway point.
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 06:31 PM |
And it's an official game!
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:31 PM |
Carlos Beltran, career K rate: 16.5%

I think that was mighty nice of the Phils phans, who are not known for their niceyness. And the kids folks were sitting right there so that really was nice they gave it up for the kid. What did it hurt to do that? Tip a the cap to the Phils phans.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:34 PM |
Sadly, the Phanatic was not killed by lightning as he assisted Ben Franklin in a thunderstorm.

Zvon--you didn't make that in four minutes, did you?
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:42 PM |
Hmm, that ball by Werth seemed playable.
batmagadanleadoff Jul 04 2008 06:43 PM |

There's no blue on those Blue Jay caps, probably because there's no blue on the Canadian flag. Even though there's blue on a blue jay. And blue is the main Blue Jay uni color. The Blue Jays wear special uniforms on Canada Day featuring red as the primary and dominant color.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:45 PM |
Yeah, I'm really impressed- either Zvon's really fast or there's a folder of art featuring the Phanatic killed in every imaginable way, like that Dana Carvey "Gerald Ford is dead" SNL skit.
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 06:46 PM |
Zvon is THAT good!
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 04 2008 06:47 PM |
Not a great inning for Aguila in left. He double clutched on that throw and still sent it way up the first base line.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 06:48 PM |
Phils get one back on a Howard RBI single.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 06:53 PM |
The other night the Missus started a song. She called me in and asked me to finish it. But baby, I thought, the Mets-Yankees are on.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 06:53 PM |
lol. No. That was from last years Mr. Met Guy comic. I keep that shelved cause I think It may have jinxed the Mets at that time. (lol, like anything I do really matters) It did take 4 minutes to add the lightning and get it supported at photobucket. Which by todays standards is sloooooow.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 06:56 PM |
Santana's got a cut like Beltran.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:01 PM |
lol. Record that Edgy. If you have a mic you can probably just do it thru the windows recorder. Or I can send you a .zip file with a home recording center, Cool Edit Pro. We want to hear it! And PLEASE update the Wright avatar while I have the honor and privilege to wear it.
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:09 PM |
Endy gets the first hit in 4 innings - but Castro's 4th inning 2B is still the last ball we hit out of the infield.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:09 PM |
Chavez leads off the 8th with an infield single.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:17 PM |
Beltran and Delgado strand Chavez at 2nd.
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:19 PM |
This'll most likely be Santana's last inning (due up 4th in top 9) so he better make it a good one.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:21 PM |
Looks like when Santana serves up that change the Phils are consciously slowing down their swing to try and stay back on it.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 07:25 PM |
Charlie Manual going with his closer in the ninth of a tie game. Note it.
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:25 PM |
Batting for Castro?
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:28 PM |
Still nothing out of the infield since there were no outs in the 4th.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:29 PM |
Surprising to me, cuz when I checked the three batters for the inning I had visions of Castro KaBOOMin one. Eww, that was one sorry half of the 9th. Sanchez to pitch the 9th.
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:32 PM |
These games are tough to win on the road.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:34 PM |
And we are having Sanchez bat 9th and leading off next inning?
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 07:34 PM |
Good K of Howard.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 07:36 PM |
Good K of Burrell.
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:36 PM |
I assume Schneider is hitting 9th (ergo: leadoff) and the pitcher in the 8-slot, but no one has said.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 07:37 PM |
Quick, you pitch to Victorino or Coste?
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:39 PM |
UGHGAH!!!!
Frayed Knot Jul 04 2008 07:39 PM |
All 3 runs given up w/2 outs.
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 07:40 PM |
Thanks for keeping Wagner in the pen.
themetfairy Jul 04 2008 07:42 PM |
Fuckshit!
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:42 PM |
COSTE! Even the Phils talking heads were surprized we were pitching to Victorino with 1st base open.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:46 PM |
If we were gonna bat the pitcher 9th, why not Wags there? He don't like being used more than one. And that was the only assured one inning gig (if it went extras) since we slid Schneider in the 8th slot.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:49 PM |
Both the Phils booth and CBS Sportline had Sanchez in the 9th slot. Thats all I know...I can't be sure both were correct.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 07:51 PM |
Not a good way to start this series.
bmfc1 Jul 04 2008 07:59 PM |
I'm getting mighty sick of Beltran. If he takes ball four earlier in the game w/the bases loaded, maybe it's a different game.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 08:06 PM |
I don't like what I'm seeing during Beltrans at bats either, tho I have to admit I don't see as large a sample as some of you guys.
Zvon Jul 04 2008 08:12 PM |
And I want my updated David Wright avatar ASAP Edgy.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 04 2008 08:13 PM |
That completely sucked ass. Beltran should be dropped to 10th in the order.
Methead Jul 04 2008 08:27 PM |
As soon as Feliz doubled, I said "They're gonna blow it, aren't they."
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 04 2008 08:31 PM |
I knew they were doomed to blow it when they made F.U. Happ look like S. F. Koufax. This was a complete mismatch and they fucked it up. And fuck Johan and Sanchez too for not sacking up and getting the third out when they needed it. Aararaararahhadhrrggh
Zvon Jul 04 2008 08:41 PM |
I have to say after seeing Sanchez dispatch the 1st two batters that last inning I thought we were goin extra's for sure. Duaner looked to have some nice stuff
Zvon Jul 04 2008 08:46 PM |
Methead Jul 04 2008 08:50 PM |
"This was a complete mismatch and they fucked it up."
AG/DC Jul 04 2008 10:22 PM |
That's the winning run out there on second, you can't get beat that way. You've got to go for the right-right or left-left matchup and go one batter deeper into the order. I know Coste is hitting well this year, but...
