i like the lineup, pitches to hit for church infront of wright

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:09 PM

Reyes and Church set the table with leadoff singles in the 1st.

Mr. Wright up.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:12 PM

Wright swings at a bad hitters pitch.
Maybe just a bad pitch, and hits into a DP.

Reyes scores on the play.

Beltran pops out to the catcher.
That should have been a MUCH bigger inning.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:19 PM

Nice first from Maine.
1-2-3

themetfairy
Jul 05 2008 05:31 PM

Another nice inning for Maine.

And it's nice seeing the Red, White and Blue logo caps again.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:40 PM

Nice try Jose.
That umps callin the same pitch a strike one time, a ball the next.

Make up your mind blue!

themetfairy
Jul 05 2008 05:43 PM

Another 1-2-3 frame for Maine.

Now it's time to give him some support!

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:45 PM

Maine lookin good thru three.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:48 PM

Wright wrips a double!

Would have liked that in the 1st but I wont complain.
Whoops, just did.

Beltran, comeon

themetfairy
Jul 05 2008 05:53 PM

And Wright comes home on what D-Dad described as, "a Little League play."

We'll go to the county fireworks show on that note.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 05:54 PM

OO! Howard throws the pickoff away!
2-0

Easley drives in Beltran and its 3-0 .

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 06:11 PM

That wasn't a bad pitch but you have to keep the ball down to Howard.

Smacks a 3 run homer and its tied.
Opposite field.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 06:25 PM

This team really beat my spirit last night. If they don't win tonight this may be it for them. Or me, or something.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 06:45 PM

The whole season is coming apart before our eyes: Maine is having elbow trouble (in his non-throwing elbow) and is leaving the game here in the 6th.

Maine of course has allowed a single hit but it was a 3-run homer.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 06:47 PM

Ohhh noooo.

Maine hurt.
Heilman coming on.

No definite word on whats wrong but Maine grabbed his left arm in pain after a pitch. Not his pitching arm, but still bad news.

Cramp?

Rockin' Doc
Jul 05 2008 06:52 PM

Well, at east it's his left elbow. I have just about given hope of this team making the postseason. They have done nothing to demonstrate that they are capable of winning 6-8 straight or getting on a hot streak and winning 15 of 20 games. They just have too many holes in the offense and the rotation just isn't deep enough to carry the sporadic offense.

KC
Jul 05 2008 06:53 PM

Mighty strange, no point in speculating. Heilman finishes off that.

Cramp report from dugout while typing.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 06:56 PM

Argenis Reyes, baton twirler, files out.

I'd like a triple now from the Real Reyes.

Woulda been a triple were it not for Victorino's speed.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 06:59 PM

Yea, cramp.

Odd.
Guess it was so bad they couldn't do anything but remove him from the game.

Whew, good thing they held up Aguila.
Reyes double has it 2nd and 3rd.

2 out.

DO IT CHURCH!

Nymr83
Jul 05 2008 07:01 PM

Church hit by a pitch, Moyer won't be allowed to face David Wright.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 07:02 PM

Church plunked and the bags are drunk.

Argenis Reyes' failure to make a productive out (or a non-out) still looming huge but Wright will hit vs. Madsen.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:04 PM

Moyer hits Church!
Good at bat.

And that'll be it for Moyer-glad to see him go.

Madson coming on for the Phils.

Bases fulla Mets with Mr. Wright coming to the plate.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 07:06 PM

Wrights using the wrong bats tonight.
2nd broken bat.
This one a weak ground out to short.

GAH!!!!

Heilman worked hard. He deserved a victory.

Grote15
Jul 05 2008 07:12 PM

Shea had a lousy team when it opened in 64 and has a lousy team to close it out.

Some syncronicity in that.

Best part is since we'll be out of it we can storm the field on the last home game have fun and take the forfeit.

See ya in 09 this team is toast

bmfc1
Jul 05 2008 07:13 PM

Jerry walks Jenkins, hitting .236, to pitch to Coste but last night he didn't walk Victorino, hitting .263, to pitch to Coste.

bmfc1
Jul 05 2008 07:14 PM

I can't believe that didn't go out.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:16 PM

Coste almost knocks it out. Caught at the wall in left center.
Whew.
Balls not carrying there tonight. Good thing too.

Manuel pulls Smith.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:17 PM

Feliciano will deal to Werth.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jul 05 2008 07:18 PM

Zvon

We got a break on that call on Werth at 2nd.
He was safe.

Would have been simpler if Aguira hit the cutoff man.
Don't think we were gonna have a play at the plate there, thought it may have been close if it was perfect.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:25 PM

Easley with a one out single.
Hey, we are still in this one guys.

KC
Jul 05 2008 07:26 PM

Victorino has that right field gap thing down pretty tight.

Frayed Knot
Jul 05 2008 07:27 PM

This is really getting annoying with these two teams: we never get a clutch hit and they never fail to get a clutch hit -- that bullpen chart they threw up there a few minutes ago said it all.

Somehow we beat them 4 of 6 early in the season but that was so long ago I no longer believe it actually happened.

And now we have a chance to either confirm or disprove my little theory.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:28 PM

The other Manuel goes to get Romero after a Delgado single makes it 1st and 3rd.
Gordon on--all these pitchers on the road to Lidge are reachable.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:29 PM

there's beer for you Marlon if you can do your job here.

Frayed Knot
Jul 05 2008 07:30 PM

PH-ing here for Castro makes more sense than last night as it lessens the GiDP chance. Gotta PH for Aguila too.

Time for Marlon to earn his keep here.

Zvon
Jul 05 2008 07:31 PM

YEA!
Wild pitch and we tie it!

Frayed Knot
Jul 05 2008 07:32 PM

We now have scored 6 runs in the last two nights:
- on a groundout (when Reyes beat out a GiDP)
- on a bases-loaded walk
- on a GiDP
- on an error
- on a hit (Easley's single)
- and now on a WP

That's some offense!!!!

Yea.Putting Marlon in left and pulling Church is a questionable move.

WOW! Sanchez hesitates on the squibbler and Delgado saves his ass with a pick!

Ugly infield single but I'll take it.
Nice read by Tatis both times.
That Feliz is a pretty good 3rd baseman. I didn't see much of him when he was out on the west coast

I've spent the rally adding up some figures. A fancy chart is coming but here is Feliciano vs. first batters this year:

15-38 (.395 batting average), .605 OBP (!!), 3 HR (!!)

How his ERA is under 3 is a miracle

The upper section here is my favorite section at Citizens Bank. The view is good, and it's nice having the restaurant/bar right there, so you don't have to miss the action when you're getting something to eat or drink.
