Church is said to have had a migraine headache last night, not related to his head injury.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 11:44 AM |
Endy Chavez, last 28 days: a completely respectable .316 BA, .365 OBP. (Nevermind that .407 BABIP over the last week)
Zvon Jul 06 2008 11:46 AM |
Chavez singles in the 1st.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 11:49 AM |
Lead off walk for Werth.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 11:50 AM |
Ollie gives up a leadoff walk ahead of the big bats. Don't worry- that never comes back to hurt you.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 11:54 AM |
Utley misses a big fat fastball up in the zone in a hitter's count.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 11:55 AM |
Dammit! Delgado apparently glued up his glove before the game.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 11:57 AM |
That pop up to Wright was interesting.

Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 12:01 PM |
Ryan Howard vs LHP, 2008: .188/.248/.361 Yikes.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 12:03 PM |
Enough with BABiP.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:04 PM |
BIG K of Howard.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 12:05 PM |
The glue comes in handy there.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 12:09 PM |
That's a really startling stat. He's on pace for 218 K's this season. Wow. These power guys just don't care about striking out, do they?
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 12:09 PM |
Easley is playing like he's on fire, NBA Jam style.

AG/DC Jul 06 2008 12:13 PM |
Tom McCarthy, roving reporter with the Phils.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 12:13 PM |
Thank you for the pop-up, Ollie. I foresaw a DP there, vividly.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:13 PM |
I thought Easley was gonna score on that for sure.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 12:14 PM |
Shoulda sent him with the pitcher on deck.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 12:15 PM |
Easley would have been meat at the plate if sent (IMHO of course)
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:17 PM |
OMG!
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 12:19 PM |
Either the moron Phillies fans are chanting "Ollie" or they are saluting the popular movie "Wall-E."
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:21 PM |
OMG!
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 12:22 PM |
Marlon should be even more embarrassed after seeing Endy make that play.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 12:23 PM |
We need an OMG! sub-forum.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:25 PM |
OMG! What a great idea! K, I'll stop. (i did actually say that to the screen for Marlons error)
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:29 PM |
Another shittilly inconsistent home plate ump.

Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:31 PM |

bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 12:36 PM |
Wagner made the All-Star team.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:43 PM |
Nice DP.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 12:45 PM |
Marlon reached further to hit that pitch then he did to catch that flyball.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 12:52 PM |

Zvon Jul 06 2008 01:19 PM |
Marlon Anderson is just so much dead weight these days.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 01:37 PM |
Reyes smacks a 2 out double and is stranded at second.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 01:39 PM |
I'm just glad to see Ollie make the sixth after that goofball first inning.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 01:45 PM |

Zvon Jul 06 2008 01:57 PM |
Beltran stranded at second after a one out single and errant pick off throw.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 02:06 PM |
Awsum play by Reyes on the grasscutter up the middle in the 7th.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:08 PM |
Do you approve of pulling him here?
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 02:09 PM |
110 pitches, but w/2 out and nobody on... I'd let him start the inning.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:10 PM |
They probably should have sent Aguila up for Anderson so he can stay in for defense.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 02:10 PM |
1 to nothing, but it's been 2:45 so far.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:13 PM |
See ya, Aguila.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 02:14 PM |
Aquila draws a pinch hit walk and gets picked off first with Reyes up.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 02:14 PM |
Yeesh. I guess he's gone when and if Moises returns.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:19 PM |
Evuhbody, crap yo pants.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:20 PM |
What do you think of these conditions? Seems like they should call a delay.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 02:24 PM |
I think they should call the game. Why wait?
batmagadanleadoff Jul 06 2008 02:24 PM |
With first and second and one out in the bottom of the eighth, Manuel's bringing in Feliciano to pitch to Ryan Howard.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 02:25 PM |
Yep. Its pourin and theres the tarp.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 02:27 PM |
And they're rolling an 'Odd Couple' !!!!
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:28 PM |
Just as First-Batter Felicano is brought into the game.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 02:31 PM |
Sanchez was cruisin fine till he booted that grounder.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 02:52 PM |
In the sense that getting one guy out can be called "cruisin'."
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 06 2008 02:52 PM |
Blinky Madison
KC Jul 06 2008 02:57 PM |
One of my favorite episodes.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 02:59 PM |
lol. I thought I saw some nice stuff on his pitches. But your right, one out does not constitute a "cruise". They take the tarp off, and now they put the tarp back on.

themetfairy Jul 06 2008 03:36 PM |
As far as I can tell, Ryan Howard is still ankle-deep in water.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 03:49 PM |
Didn't see right before the rain delay started, did Feliciano warm up?
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 03:51 PM |

Rain delay edition of Z's PICS OF THE GAME

bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 04:08 PM |
Adam Rubin with an update: it's still raining:
Benjamin Grimm Jul 06 2008 04:16 PM |
He was on the mound, ready to face Howard, when the tarp was summoned.
Benjamin Grimm Jul 06 2008 04:19 PM |
What happens if they never resume?
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 04:21 PM |
If they call it, it goes as a 7 inning game and the Mets stats for the top of the 8th are wiped. Yes, Perez gets the CG, SHO and W if that happens.
Fman99 Jul 06 2008 04:26 PM |
What a break that'd be. Since it was a day game they'll wait a few more hours before they call it, I would think.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 04:44 PM |
John Delcos July 6th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
KC Jul 06 2008 05:06 PM |
Come clean, you're related to Delcos. You are Delcos. Your barber cut
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 05:08 PM |

Nah, but those are excellent guesses! I just know that he keeps updating blog.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:12 PM |
Games back.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:13 PM |
Feliciano reverses his bad 1st-batter trend.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:14 PM |
Feliciano Ks the K-man Ryan Howard.
bmfc1 Jul 06 2008 05:15 PM |
Burrell v. Heilman: .308, 4 for 13, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 05:15 PM |
The 2:50 rain delay seems to have favored Pedro Feliciano.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:23 PM |
I can't believe Burrell took that 3-2 slider.
KC Jul 06 2008 05:24 PM |
Nice work by Feliciano and Heilman. That AB to Burrell was brutal to watch
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:25 PM |
Feliciano and Heilman are getting some beer tonight. Two huge outs after the rain delay.
AG/DC Jul 06 2008 05:25 PM |
Yay, bullpen!
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:27 PM |
It would be real nice to get some more runs here
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:27 PM |
Way to start it Jose
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:28 PM |
Reyes leads off the ninth with a single. Let's get some insurance runs.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:29 PM |
Swing away!
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:29 PM |
Reyes steals second to put himslef into scoring position.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:31 PM |
Chavez bunts him over.
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:31 PM |
I hate the sac bunt. Pull the ball and you advance Reyes and as Knot said, you just might even get a hit and RBI.
themetfairy Jul 06 2008 05:33 PM |
Yes! Beltran drives home Reyes for an insurance run!
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:33 PM |
And now Wright Ks and the gain from the sac bunt is out the window.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:34 PM |
BIG 2 out rbingle by Beltran
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:34 PM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jul 06 2008 05:38 PM |
This is one of those times where Beltran's speed comes into play. Because if say Delgado was still in the cleanup spot, the sac bunt would prompt me to int. walk Wright and go for the DP.
KC Jul 06 2008 05:35 PM |
Delgado is just a suckah for that low breaking stuff inside. A suckah.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:45 PM |
Might have gotten a break on that call.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:47 PM |
I don't believe what I just saw!
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:47 PM |
Mutha-Fucka
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 06 2008 05:47 PM |
Fucking Wagner.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 05:48 PM |
Good thing we got that insurance run, I guess.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:48 PM |
Frakin Jason Werth.
apmorris Jul 06 2008 05:49 PM |
All-Star!
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 06 2008 05:50 PM |
Wagner is the worst. What a looooser.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 05:51 PM |
I don't like Jayson Werth. I'd bet he's a .300 hitter against us easily.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:54 PM |
A slider right over the heart of the plate to Werth.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 05:54 PM |
Lost in the Wagner mess is the news that CC Sabathia has been traded to the Brewers.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 05:54 PM |
And now we've got the bottom of our lineup due up, the middle of theirs, and the best part of our pen is spent.
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 05:57 PM |
I feel partly to blame, not as much as Wagner, but partly. I'm the one, that during the rain delay, said I wanted to see an episode of Stinky Madson.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 05:59 PM |
We are not gonna run for Schneider here?
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 05:59 PM |
Sunuvabitch. I just clicked over to my fantasy league, and unless Wags comes back and gets a W, he might have just cost me a fucking win this week. Dickhead.
mario25 Jul 06 2008 05:59 PM |
Wagner blows away Werth with two fastballs then proceeds to throw a lollipop slider...real bad
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:00 PM |
Wow. That link demands I respond.
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 06:00 PM |
With A Reyes's "power" and Schneider's "speed" could he even score him with two hits?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Jul 06 2008 06:02 PM |
I've never hated any Met as I hate Wagner.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:02 PM |
The funny thing is that the single -- and only a single -- kept Schneider in the game.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:03 PM |
Bobby B. and Vince C. called, they say hello.

All That Jazz - Nice Zvon!
Rockin' Doc Jul 06 2008 06:06 PM |
The Mets really don't have much to throw out there as pinch hitters. Aguila? A. Reyes? They won't use Castro unless they have to since he is the only catcher left. I'm guessing that Church isn't available.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:08 PM |
ty,ty.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:09 PM |
I don't like this Schoeneweis-Feliz matchup.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:10 PM |
So am I but if his head is still on his shoulders and he's in the dugout he may have to bat at some point. On edit: If we get thru this inning. Show gives up back to back singles and it's Smithtime (<graphically,......i got nuthin)
Frayed Knot Jul 06 2008 06:15 PM |
Well it's Smith and/or Armas for the rest of the game - and Armas pitched yesterday though I shudder to think of Smith pitching to LHBs Rollins, Utley & Howard
themetfairy Jul 06 2008 06:15 PM |
Smith induces the ground out.
KC Jul 06 2008 06:15 PM |
This could go on all night if this joint wasn't such a bandbox.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:17 PM |
On to the 11th!
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:18 PM |
I give Reyes permission to swing for the fences.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:18 PM |
History tells us that we can get to Madson once he gets into his 8th inning of work.
themetfairy Jul 06 2008 06:19 PM |
We're done with Madsen. Deanna Durbin is in the game.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:20 PM |
I think that goes double for Durbin.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:20 PM |
Whoops, never mind.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:22 PM |
SNY a little slow on announcing the changes.

themetfairy Jul 06 2008 06:25 PM |
Endy's stranded.

Oy!

Bullshit Billy Wagner and the Wilpon bullshit Mets.
Gwreck Jul 06 2008 06:26 PM |
I don't like the Dobbs-Smith matchup.

Smith does stay on.

Keith has commented in the past that Delgado doesn't have the greatest footwork at first base.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:40 PM |
Thats why he shouldn't use that move unless its totally necessary, IMO. Just plant your foot on the bag and stretch.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 06:40 PM |
FERNANDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

KC Jul 06 2008 06:43 PM |
Let's go Joe!
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:44 PM |
Smith found his own at bat funny.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:48 PM |
Looks on TV like Smith's pitches move like mine used to playin whiffle ball.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Jul 06 2008 06:50 PM |
Howard gets to see a righty. I fear.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 06:51 PM |
Huge out by Joe Smith.
Zvon Jul 06 2008 06:51 PM |
Rollins steals second w/o a throw even tho Schneider popped up to throw as quick as anyone could.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 06:51 PM |
And a great play by Jose Reyes to get Favre on the ground ball. Wow.
seawolf17 Jul 06 2008 06:52 PM |
And the Phillies are down to their last out with the tying run at the plate, which means Feliz is going to hit this one into the Monongahela, or whatever river it is that's in Philly.
